Here's a 1858 I found this week in a penny roll I bought last year at yard sale.
Im wondering if the thing is worth sending in to slab as im not sure what grade it is.

That's the "Small Letters" variety of 1858. (The bottom of the A and M in AMERICA are separated. They touch on the "Large Letters" variety.)
I'd say that coin approaches VF, gradewise, and as such would probably be a $60-70-ish coin, retail.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
if for selling reason...i'd sell it raw and be done with it as you might come out ahead
it was the last of 5 rolls I bought like over a year ago.

If you are wondering about its grade, then drift over to the PCGS website and use their online grading tool (PCGS Photograde Online). A "self-grade" is free and easy to do for a circ FE cent. There's no reason to pay a TPG for their grading opinion.
If you are thinking that sending it in for authentication and grading will add value to the coin, then you have to ask yourself if you believe you could sell the coin for $30 or so above the raw coin price. If not, then certification will not add monetary value.
To sum it up ... no, don't submit this coin, it's not worth the expense. It's real and in Fine condition and a really nice coin. Nice find!

<< <i>Wow! Tough graders here. If the surfaces are OK it is a nice VF IMHO! >>
Yeah, I can't argue with you on that one. It may indeed go VF because the surfaces are so nice and it's skin is ideal. For me, the detail is there for F-15, but not quite for VF-20. A very nice circ FE cent.

<< <i>A very presentable F12. It is probably not worth enough to justify the cost of slabbing. >>
