1837 J.H. Dayton "Union Steam Washing" New York, Low-114/HT-249, Rarity-3
Ex: Fredrick Boyd, John Ford, Aspen Park collections.
This was one of the tokens which was reserved asap by another collector when the Aspen Park collection was offered for sale individually back in 2009. I viewed it in hand but sadly had to give it back as it was already spoken for. I've never owned an example of this variety as in UNC I only know of 4 examples. This variety is very tough to locate problem free at XF or above since most all seen when available are in VG to VF condition. This example betters the Robert Vlack, & Virgil Brand / Dice Hicks examples as far as surface conditions and lack of handling marks. These are most always seen weakly struck in the centers and sometimes obliterating the left side peripheral script of the reverse. NGC in well over a decade of grading HTT's has only ever seen 5 in circulated grades and 2 in mint state of which this is the finest.

Some SUPER tokens.
This one arrived yesterday:
- Bob -

MPL's - Lincolns of Color
Central Valley Roosevelts
The obverse is the same as used on the 1854 HK-8 white metal Crystal Palace SC$1 struck by Pinches. I've always considered this design to be very attractive as it closely resembles Herman MacNeil's Ty1 Standing Liberty Quarter. However thankfully on the SLQ Miss Liberty isn't walking through the gateway of America while flaunting her bare breast at a bystander sheep. Lux Mihi Laurus on the reverse translated from Latin is "The Laurel Is My Light" in English.
