It's good to know that the old fashioned version of capitalism is making a comeback - where the risk takers still keep the profits and the loses aren't a burden on others. Unless, of course, he's too big to fail
This is an amazing new chapter in the never-ending saga of how eBay has become rampant with fraud, deceit, and buyers and sellers whom I want nothing to do with.
You would think that fact alone would negate his SNAD claim. How can he claim the pictures were deceiving if he chose to use them when he offered the coin for auction?

Some battles are worth fighting, some are not. Probably wise to just move on, as you say.

Edit to add. Intercept failed (if ever attempted). I received the coin back and will issue a full refund. Don't need the hassle of Paypal chargebacks. Good riddance. >>
Does he have any inkling that an untold number of sellers blocked him? That might change the hard feelings part!

I think I recall something similar being done by somebody else. Maybe your buyer saw something he didn't like under a 10X loupe, canned his listing and returned the coin.
Or maybe a shooting star landed near his house, which caused the coin to fall off the dresser and change in appearance.
Maybe I should unblock your buyer as maybe these things are possible?...
