I had started a recent thread regarding a number of recent returns. This fellow bought an 1889-CC Morgan from me and after 10 days he said that it did not fit in his set. He originally filed a SNAD looking for me to cover shipping both ways.
A bit of research shows that he listed and sold the coin for significantly less than he had paid me. WTH.
I don't mind taking the coin back but the BS is uncalled for.

Update: I spoke with the buyer this afternoon and exchanged a handful of emails as well. No hard feelings either way and he has agreed to keep the coin. Hopefully his interception of the package is successful.
Edit to add. Intercept failed (if ever attempted). I received the coin back and will issue a full refund. Don't need the hassle of Paypal chargebacks. Good riddance.

According to Ebay, probably not.
According to Paypal probably so.

But you have Returns: 14 days money back, buyer pays return shipping
So just have him return the coin at his expense and give him his money back and block him. Not much else you can do.
People go to Home Depot, buy a top of the line chainsaw, use it to cut down their tree, and then return it to the store. It's cheaper than renting it.

Yep. If I had that in my auction, and he was within the timeline when he requested the return, I would take it, but have him pay shipping.
Ebay has the auction, under his account, that clearly shows it is the same coin (same cert #, etc), so I think they would not process the SNAD, as mentioned above.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Unless it was his own shilling that won it, if he does that, which I don't know and am only speculating on based on his actions so far being less than scrupulous, then he probably said something akin to "ummm...sorry.....I can't seem to find the coin. Let's mutually cancel the transaction. Ok dude?"

Well...................if he doesn't receive a neutral or neg from whomever purchased the coin then he probably shilled it.
IF, a buddy bought bid on the coin and they agree to cancel the transaction, eBay "might" be able to respond.
BUT, as it sits right now, he technically doesn't own the coin and if he sent a "Sorry dude, can't find it" message, then eBay would have a record of that as well.
Definitely someone I would not want to buy my coins although, the name "looks" familiar.

Just had one returned snad in an ngc holder. Buyer said coin did not appear to fit the grade and holder appeared tampered. Bs. Holder is fine he just wanted to see it and didn't want to pay return shipping after I told him no problem on the return.

No reserve auctions are losers in my experience with very few exceptions. And with all the shilling going on in what appear to be honest auctions, how do others compete with "auction theater"?

Was thinking about that as well. If the auction winner paid for the coin, who holds title to it?
(Seller) "Well, let me see. Even though the auction closed, I need to cancel it". (Buyer) "Why"? (Seller) "um,,,,,,,,,,well..............um,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well you see the coin hasn't arrived yet because I just bought it". (Buyer) "So, ship it to me after it arrives". (Seller) "Well, I'd rather cancel anyway because you got it for less than I paid for it".

The auction posted was shilled, so he did not send anyware. eBay doen't even care if they pay the fees - start getting pissy if you frequently cancel your shilled wins.
