Decided to create my own silver n gold hoard, I'll even share the recipe

Feel free to modify as desired

60- cull Morgans and one F/VF 1878CC
1- 1921 Peace buck, with issues
20- circulated WLH's
2 - well circulated Barber halves
1 - 1861 Seated half
1 - 1885 XF $10 gold piece
1 - well circulated $2 dollar bill
1 - Ball glass jar with a steel screw on cap

that $2 bill throws the whole thing off to me

most who saved silver n gold...did so out of disgust for greenbacks
so to have a greenback by silver n gold...just taints it to me

if you are to have a greenback in there...get a gold certificate or something like some gas rationing coupons

I like it. It looks really cool to me, but i have to admit that I was kinda thinking the same way as Teddy about that $2.
But the old time jar and those coins make for a really neat item.

Imagine a jar with all mint marks visible (S, CC, D, Den, C, O and Philly). Now there would
be some big bucks....

I've got a 1/2 gallon mason jar half filled with all sorts of classic cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters I've found in the coin boards I've collected over the years. It makes for an interesting desk display.

I think that the $2 bill needs to be flipped so you can not see the date. I am going to the antique shops tomorrow to find me some jars and might just put together a parody listing with all mint marks showing just for the fun of it. I will list it for like $12,000.00 or best offer. I will of course say I cant see the center so can you imaging what gold coins could be in there as they are so small!

Someday. Someone will move or knock down the big shed in my backyard. As they clear it away....they'll find the jar I put there, under the frame as they were putting it in place. Filled with pocket change c. 2005.

If you have a CC Morgan, face that side out, and put an 1889P with the obverse out near it. Likewise, if you have a 1932 quarter, put a D mint quarter reverse near it, 1901P quarter obverse, S mint reverse, there a lot of pairs that can give people the idea that there are valuable coins within. Similarly, if you have an otherwise nice old coin with a hole in it or a rim ding, field dig, etc, cover the problem with another coin. Put all the best coins on the outside craftily arranged, and make sure all the common and junk coins are hidden in the center. A tube slightly smaller than the diameter of the jar could probably help with the placement of coins in the "shell" and "core" If I ever get any decent amount of spare time I might try to make one of these for fun and take some pics for the thread.

A stiff piece of paper works well for this as I have done so to make sand paintings in jars before.

It's amazing to me what the Ball Corp. has evolved into. Not surprisingly it's subsidiaries make some very impressive objects that contain glass. All of the scientific instrument packages for the Hubble Space Telescope were made by Ball Aerospace (a subsidiary Corp.). Ball Aerospace also made the Kepler Space Observatory (which looks for planets circling other stars), and is making the James Webb Space Telescope (which is the follow on telescope for the Hubble).
