Just found a tuff Roosie variety......opinions???

It has pretty good detail for a 1969-P, but will that mark on the "R" keep it from grading?

It's the rev of 68 variety.

I think the coin will actually look better than the pic.....but the mark will still be there.

    MS-63+.

It is good enough for the date and great for the type.

Keep looking for another one and always know that you have this one as a back-up to sell later. I would not send it in for grading since you should be able to find a nicer example with a little more time.

Spot does not bother me as much as the Big Ding in R and it looks like it goes thru the Rim to the Otherside? I Thought they were tuff on the Rims? Nice Pickup Enjoy image

Ding or strike-thru on the R? Can't tell.

    >>>What is the distinguishing characteristics on the reverse?<<<

The 2 deep valley's in the flame. The regular is almost flat with little shallow valley's that don't go far like these.

    Hope this helps.

I got the 1969-P 901 today. Much nicer in hand than the scan.

I can't tell what it is on the "R". It doesn't look like a scratch so maybe it is a strike thru. It's not as bad in hand as in the pic. I think PCGS would grade it 63...give or take a grade.

Can you do a picture of the R?

The R thing looks like it could be a defective planchet to me. If it is a DP, you might have to go with error coin submission to get it to grade.

I like it because it is a hard variety. I say send it in and let us know what happens. The overall coin looks good. Nice find.
  • Back in the day that these were current issues, the two varieties seemed about equal to me in quantity.
