"What year?"
"1974."
"spend it."
He heard them was worth eleventy squintillion dollars.
He's got one that only has a little bit of rust on it.
But that's OK, he got that off with the Brillo pad.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

Bill collector?

$100.70 just like the old line about 64 Kennedy halves being worth $32.

<< <i>Well? What was the phone call about? >>
"A complete set of Franklins with full bell lines in PCGS holders", said the man. He said they're worth XX amount but the dealers will only offer him X amount.
The alimony check did not go missing.
The IRS, FBI, CIA, Secret Service (okay someone called posing as the latter, but they were called on a mission shortly thereafter …. Keets)
And all those other guesses are funny, but life behind the counter usually is not that dramatic.

Did you work out a deal on the set?
He is going to bring them in so I can see them. I explained how the market is a bit soft, but there were "right" buyers out there. I asked if there were a way I could broker a deal for him instead of buying them "outright", maybe. He was open to this suggestion. Often times we dealers do "have a heart" for collector's feelings. Because many of us FEEL the same way.
And by the way, this place offers up the most fun, considering a vast majority of "numismatic types" are "intellectuals".
I never wish to step on any toes, in the hobby or business.
There are more "phone calls". This was just one of the many. I hope others might use this thread to "chat" about coins. Any experiences are better than no experiences.

She said, "Well I need 2 of each of the last president issued from the mint".
I'll admit , I had to reference the Red Book before I answered , "Oh, the Franklin D. Roosevelt"
"Yes, I have them in the "P" mint and the "D" mint. (as I run to the Prezzie buck box to make sure since I only order one roll of each)
She asked : "How much ? "
I answered, and she said, "Could I just get a roll of each at that price ? "
I said, "Ma'am, the U.S. Mint charges me 40% more than face value plus shipping". Would you like a whole roll ?
She thought for about the amount of time it took to say "NO" and said, "NO".
I said, "I know how you feel". Then she asked, "Do you carry the national parks quarters ? "
I almost ran next door to get a beer.
Then we agreed on 4 coins (2 from Philly, and 2 from Denver).
She said, "Is it okay if I send cash in the mail ? "
I answered: "Is it okay if you receive cash in the mail ? "
She laughed. Next day an envelope arrives with a ten and a five dollar bill with a note that said : "I enjoy talking to you and keep the change".
I thought "How sweet and generous ". Enough money to buy 10 more presidential dollars from the mint.
And this is just one minute of the day, at the shop.
I'd rather be golfing, fishing, bowling, traveling, or watching reruns of Dr Phil.
…. or playing with the grandkids. But the kids are too busy shuffling them off. And to think, I was a family man, once.
