Ever hold a $10,000+ trading card in your hand(s)...

There is a great thread over on the U.S. Coin forum with this same thread title and I stole it to ask everyone here this question.

Have you ever held a $10,000+ trading card in your hand raw and or one graded. Graded would be a lot easier to answer, but raw or in a flip would not be as easy, so have at it with the answers.

(Raw) I cannot say that I have

(Graded) I held a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle in a PSA NM-MT 8 at a National.

Later, Paul.

Have held many, many books $10k+ but never a trading card.

'79 OPC Gretzky PSA 9 is the highest valued card I've held.

Nope, the most expensive single card I own probably tops out around $2500 and the most expensive unopened boxes I own are probably around $3000-3500. Maybe in the future, I will go for something $10k+ but for now I don't have that kind of disposable income to comfortably drop that amount on one card or box. For now, I enjoy having a mix of graded cards ranging from $10-$2500 (all but a couple are probably under $600 in value).

Yes. One year at the National I sold a 1953 Mantle PSA 8 to one of the big dealers who I did business with, and I know most of them on a first name basis from doing business/going to the Natty/going to games with them... One year a bunch of us go to Morton's one night in Chicago, and I remember a few guys at the table (about 8-10 of us) bringing their cards with them to dinner. Overall the table had over a million worth of cards being passed around to look at - 33 Ruth, 15 Cracker Jack Cobb and Shoeless Joe, 52 Mantle.... all PSA 8 or better. Pretty surreal to say the least.

Neatest photo I have is my son, who was with me at the National the past few years, and last year he was 8 and he got a chance to hold the $1.2 million Wagner. Neat photo and thank goodness he has dry hands!

Never held a card but I have held a 10,000 dollar bill before. I'm not sure what it was worth but the face value was 10k at least.

Does five boxes of 1991 Topps Desert Shield count? It was a lot of cards.

Held a 1968 OPC #2 Bobby Orr PSA 9 at a card show once. It was pretty cool. The dealer had recently purchased it for just over 12k

If any of you guys have seen the Modern Family clip of the Joe Dimaggio card, it puts holding a raw card into a new perspective.

No, but I have held a diamond worth $250,000. It was nearly as big as a baseball. No joke.

Yes, my Clemente RC. Raw, no. Surprisingly the closest thing to a $10k raw card I handled was a 1971 Claude Raymond that ended up in a 9 holder and dealt for $5k worth of cards. Beyond that, I guess it would be my PSA 9 Schmidt RC which is a sub $2k card.

    Yes to both.

In fact, I think the most valuable card I've ever handled was a raw (and not graded) card. I'm quite sure the owner of that card has no intentions of getting it graded, either. (the card is of that minor league Italian hack named Demaggio)

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

1966 Topps Hockey #35 Bobby Orr. Bought it raw through the mail for somewhat less than $100 many years ago (before PSA existed). Several years later I submitted it for grading and it came back PSA 8. This was before they were doing half grades.

Yes. I was very privileged to hold the 1953 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle graded MINT by PSA. I must say it is indeed light years ahead of the typical PSA 1's. ----Indiana Jones (Brian Powell)
