Anyone hear from bbuckner22? He's had a 73 set belonging to me since June 30.

I'm wondering if anyone here has heard from bbuckner22. I sent him a 73 Topps set on June 30 to break on Ebay. He didn't sell it, and I haven't received it back.

Here's the history:

Sent set on June 30.

By July 30, the set had not sold so I asked about it. Here was the reply, via text: "I'll talk to you about the 73's after the National." (We had been trading texts during the show, at which point I asked about the 73 set). I asked what the issue was with them and got no reply.

On August 8, he indicated he'd been dealing with some other things so I took that to mean that had been the cause of the delay. I replied that was fine, and then didn't hear from him for 12 days.

On August 21, I asked to have the set shipped back to me. He replied he would and on Aug 27 asked for my address. I wanted to talk to him about something else so I asked if we could catch up on the phone at which point I'd give him my address. We never wound up talking on the phone.

On September 9, I asked again to have the set shipped back to me. No response. On Sept. 12, I sent another text message without a response. On Sept. 17, I called and left a voice message. No response.

I'm trying to be patient here and give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's frustrating. Has anyone here heard from him? I noticed he just broke a 1969 set earlier this week. All I know is I want my set back.

It is always possible that it rolled slowly through his legs and he just doesn't want to talk about it anymore.

  • No clue who either of you are. But I do run a business and this seems very odd business. The fact he is active is a big concern if no reply. Not sure what to tell other than I would be bring up daily until he gets in touch with you.

I had a problem with someone not returning an item 2 times. Got the run-around for a while then no reply. I called their local police and they went and spoke to the people. I got my items sent back to me right away.

I applaud your patience up to this point. I would start to get more assertive with the inquiries if I were you.

I think you've been more than patient Tom.

This may be a classic case of procrastination. Perhaps someone here that you know? Who lives near him and can help in some way?

You've shown more patience than most of us could've shown. He's received the benefit of the doubt and then some. Time to do what he's forcing you to do.

Maybe he sold it and the buyer couldn't flip a profit so they're returning it?

  • I personally think that if you're going to start a thread which could make the individual look bad (although I don't like the way he handled it but as long as he redeems himself, then all is fine) then you should at the very least give an update and say that buckner contacted you back. Now if you don't get your set back, then please let us know to warn others of that individuals credibility.
  • I personally think this thread calling him out is precisely why he got it back. Clearly he was in no rush to return the set prior to the thread being created.
  • Oh no doubt. I agree with that all the way Dusto. I just see so many threads started with problems/concerns over this and that but when a possible resolution is reached behind the scenes, I think its nice to let others know. Especially when so many here truly concerned. I really hope Ron gets his cards back. Again, i didnt like the way buckner handled this and sometimes you DO have to call someone out to put pressure on them.

I don't think it's Ron's responsibility to update this post. If bbuckner22 cares about his credibility then he can come here and update it, not Ron.

Hope it works out Ron. Crappy what was done to you.

There are always two sides... Hate to question withers credibility, especially if you haven't been on the boards for awhile...

The writer has been on the boards two years longer than you. That tells me he is pretty credible, especially since he was beyond patient in resolving getting his set back and used the message boards as a last resort.

LOL, I'm not saying the OP's post in disingenuous, but length of time on this board has nothing to do with integrity.

The set has been returned to me. I did not ask for, nor do I want, an explanation from Dave. None of us are perfect, time to move on.

I tend to agree that if you're going to put something out there and people become concerned, you should update if there is a change. I was blown away at this and stated my concern. It would have been nice to know you were in communication with Buckner and it was looking promisining instead of allowing others to chime in as well...just my opinion..on the other hand, maybe you chose not to update us because it put the pressure on Buckner..regardless of your reasoning, buckners reputation is currently in question

Ron has a history of starting threads that call people out without disclosing all the details.
  • MULLINS5MULLINS5 Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭
I still don't understand why it's Ron's responsibility to update the thread with details, IMO.

The purpose of the thread is to call out a forum member who was holding a set of cards and not responding to messages.

It's bbuckner22's responsibility, if he cares, to reply to the thread with updates, not the OP's.

Ron, I hope you actually got all of the cards back. Hopefully nothing was switched out.

  • I'd go a different route with this one. After reading through this while also experiencing the positive focus and benefits here provided by the gimmegod. Would support this all simply be settled by Dan Bessette. Kind of like a 'What Would Dan Do' thing.
