NNNNooooooo....save the 24K Gold Ultra-High Relief Coin and accompanying silver medal for 2019, the 50th Anny of the Armstrong / Aldrin moon landing and release it on July 20, 2019.

    I'm thinking a Pan-Pac related coin... it's 100 years old in 2015.

    Imminent disaster

How can they avoid the disaster of a 2015 UHR of the same design as the 2009 UHR?

The first moon landing should be commemorated by a permanent circulating dollar coin, starting in 2019. This should coincide with the cessation of printing of one-dollar bills.

I am not a fan of a 2nd release of the UHR Saint coin. That should have been 1907 and 2009 only. The mint can produce something else. Maybe a PanPac octagonal coin?

Yes! Octagonal Pan-Pac and the moon landing...both excellent.

The more I looked at the Eagle-On-Moon Ike reverse the more I like it. I bet if they'd went with the original "angry" landing eagle design it would have been absolutely stunning.

    Judd 1776 ?

Was that UHR ? Could it be?

The more I look at this pattern the more I like it. This would be a very nice item for everyone.

I just read an article that says that Buzz Aldrin uttered the first words on the moon prior to Neil Armstrong's famous: "Houston, ...".

This is not a good idea. The year 2015 is not a good anniversary year for the UHR coin. What has that year got to do with anything with respect to the UHR coin? About the only result could be that it will water down the value of the 2009 UHR coin which had a fairly hefty mintage of just over 114,000.

I agree with the others that a smaller version of the 1915 octagonal Panama-Pacific $50 gold coin would be more appropriate.

The USM will never commemorate the most logical.....they would rather do the PC thing........

They missed 250th anniversary of Gold Discovery in 1998; they blew the 50th Anniv of NASA in 2009; and the list goes on and on and on

I know you cant commemorate everything, but they blew by some BIG ONES that had an impact on our Country and Society for years afterwards.....

And now another high relief? How about a high relief silver eagle.......for the 30th Anniversary....or a side by side old reverse, new reverse silver eagles in high relief.....?

I think more ultra-high reliefs from the Mint is generally a good thing. We need more artistic infusion in Mint pieces.

I'd buy that if it were made to the same specs as the original.

Really? 2.4186 oz of gold? That would be $3,862.25 based on the pricing grid and $1,300 spot price.

    An interesting and informative article by PCGS about these coins;
