Plucked Another Barber from the Bush - New Piece

CatbertCatbert Posts: 8,236 ✭✭✭✭✭
Tom Bush, that is of Thomas Bush Numismatics.

Here is my new Barber Dime from Tom (PCGS MS65 CAC):

image

I'm on a long journey to build a basic U.S. Type set (no gold) and typically add only a couple of coins per year. As a small time collector without any specialized knowledge, I've been fortunate to obtain some pleasing coins from national shows and to meet a top notch dealer like Tom who has such a keen eye. It has been purely by happenstance that the three Barber type coins (dime, quarter, and half) in my collection have all come from him since 2012. I gain some satisfaction that my instincts were right about each Barber coin selected and this is reinforced by knowing that this type is a favorite of his. Anyway, I realize he's well known here, but for those who haven't visited his site, I suggest you do!

You can see the quarter and half at my registry page

Catbert... Very pretty Dime... I agree, with your assessment of Tom Bush,
he has a great eye and I have a couple of his coins as well.

Words like "gorgeous", "satiny", and "scintillating" come to mind.

That coin really plays the Blues. (In a good way.)

A lovely dime for sure. image

I do not collect much of what Tom deals in but one of the highlights for me at shows is looking through his box or two he has on hand. I just love the look and originality of his selection.

Very nice Barber but looking through your type set, I still love those seated halves.

As for Tom, when people ask how do you judge originality, go to Tom's website and look over his inventory. That is a focus of how he selects coins.

Nice. I usually do not like Barbers at all; so much so that
I've put off adding any to my type set, but a beauty like that
    could change my mind!
