S-B ANA Auction
I have received two small print auction catalogues from S-B showing many gold coins. As of the other day the website seemed to show only the same gold coins going to auction.
Is this all S-B will be auctioning off in Rosemont?? I expected a much larger sale covering the whole range of (at least) US coins.
Anyone know what is going on??

<< <i>That's silly. Their main catalog is coming out soon. >>
This is correct. There was an insert saying the other catalogs will be mailed out soon.

Two very different collections, I am having trouble deciding which catalog is more interesting to read.
The Gilded Age collector tried to get as many different Unc $20s as possible. Most of the coins are MS61 or MS62.
OTOH, the Ferrendelli cabinet is definitive on early quarter eagle varieties.

I enjoyed looking through the Gilded Age $20 Lib collection catalog, especially reading the interesting commentary for each date and mint. While it true that all of the coins are in the lower mint state grades, many of the Type 1 and 2 examples are within the Condition Census for the issue, many early dates just don’t come any nicer. Some of the early coins are pedigreed to Bass, Pittman, Browning (Dallas Bank Collection) or the various shipwrecks. I find the mix of coins interesting in that some of the common date Type 3s seem out of place among coins like a 1854-S MS64 or 1871 in MS63. Overall, I thought the consignor selected coins that had good eye appeal, especially for the grade.
I agree. Ed is silly.
Doggedly collecting coins of the Central American Republic.
