What do you think?? Ebay dilema

I won a bust half on Ebay. Looks like its about VF but seller had a bad picture. I got it for $48.
I paid quickly and seller leaves me positive feedback... Time passes and I don't receive the coin. I Emailed the seller
and he said he will send a refund. So far, no refund, no coin. Sounds like the seller decided not
to sell the coin and is backing out of the deal. This definitely sounds like a legitimate cause for
leaving negative feedback... seller backed out of the deal. I'm afraid of retaliation...

Your thoughts please.

TIA

Harvey

<< <i>What retaliation? Sellers can't leave neg feedback. Open a case, get your refund, wait a couple weeks, neg him. >>

You can't neg after opening a case as once resolved your only recourse is to leave positive feedback or no feedback.

    Pretty straightforward, Harvey. See here.

When a buyer doesn't receive an item

If a buyer doesn't receive an item, the buyer needs to open a case by contacting the seller through the Resolution Center. The seller should address the buyer's concern and provide updates on the delivery of the item, tracking information, or a refund.

If the buyer isn't happy with the seller's response or doesn't receive a seller response, the buyer can ask us to review the case and make a decision.

If asked to review and decide a case that meets the criteria for the eBay Money Back Guarantee, we review the information provided by the buyer and seller for evidence of successful on-time delivery to the buyer's address. Proof of signature is required to confirm delivery for items with a total cost of $750 or more.

If we determine that the item wasn't successfully delivered, we refund the full cost of the item and original shipping to the buyer's PayPal account. The seller is required to reimburse us for the amount. Find out more about reimbursement.

  • Yes, I opened a case.. I know I'll get a refund...

I'll wait a while after I get the refund and then neg him...

    This seller deserves it....

Nonsense .. A buyer can neg. anyone for any reason. The question is, will eBay let it stand if challenged by the seller.

You can definitely leave a negative for a seller. I have done it without any problem. I rarely leave negative feedback, but if I do, then it is definitely deserved by the seller. Reasons for leaving a negative include: 1) item not received and 2) failure to communicate when asking for a return as offered. I have never left a negative for an item not as described so long as the seller issues a prompt refund once the item has been returned.

That is not true. You can neg at any time, even after getting the refund and closing the case

As far as retaliation, if you are buying from your selling account, you are asking for trouble.

If they retaliate with a neg on some cheap thing you sell them, you can call ebay and they'll remove it. >>

Everyone has friends and relatives. But you can avoid this by simply creating a buying account.

  • I got my refund and left negative feedback. I have had my coins sell on Ebay for far less than I expected, but I still delivered the coins to the highest bidder.

Perhaps it was lost in the mail or he made a mistake or who knows what

    You got your money back

No need for a neg yet you left it for ?revenge?

Item not received nor refunded. Had to open a claim to get a refund.

Purpose of the feedback system is to let others know how satisfied a buyer is with a seller. Would you have reflected satisfaction if you were giving the feedback in this case?

Things are lost or delayed in the mail and I don't think that deserves a neg

    Is that the case here?

    Is there a tracking number?

    How long since the auction?
