I forgot Sunday night, but earlier Monday it was 280 and 17 and that 1 from kagin's probably didn't sell yesterday
Tonight's count is 264 & 17
And I just noticed a banner on this forum and featuring the SRH, it mentioned amazon "shop now" but clicking take you to general pcgs graded coin listings.
Looks like they are still discovering more of them.
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.
Local coin shop has at least 5 of these. I didn't get a chance to ask how much or really get a look at them (behind the case) and had to be in and out in minutes, but I did see that they were SRH. If I would have been able to talk to one of the guys, I would have asked if they bought them directly (likely, given the timing) or from some customer who was ready to lose money after only a week or two.....

Doubt they are re-sales, probably dealer purchases direct.
The 1889-s in MS63 were good buys. The coins were very nice.
IMO, you will not be seeing these for re-sale at lower prices.
I would expect most of these are being bought with the intent of resale. That is, either in the buyer's lifetime or that of their heirs. As investments. Most collectors can't afford to own SRH gold simply for pleasure.
I finally saw one live, in hand! My colleague brought in an 1888-S $20 gold piece in MS 64. It had booming cartwheel luster. I'm so jealous! But if I make a dollar he makes four. I'm just glad he shares his stuff with me.

By the time Dave McCarthy's box of so of Saddle Ridge coins had been passed around at ANA Summer Seminar, some redefinitions of lustre were being considered.

Col. J., my dad and I got to see them at the Atlanta ANA show earlier this year. I'll never forget that luster. It was ... unique. I've never seen gold like that before and I suspect I never will again. The super rare coins at Smithsonian tend to have a deeper yellow, IMHO. Perhaps more copper in the blend or maybe they've just toned differently due to their being preserved in man-made environments for so long (due to their known rarity) as opposed to mother nature's wrath. Think of how many times those containers filled with rain water, probably muddied, and who knows how many insects and their excrements. It really is amazing to see them now. Like a classic British gentleman, they "clean up well."
edited to clarify: I cited the Smithsonian coins because they are American. Although, back in the 1990s, I saw the previous Smithsonian exhibit which contained gold coins from all the countries of the world. It was spectacular. But I have world gold coins in my own collection and I know they vary in colour, toning, and luster ... but I still maintain that Saddle Ridge Hoard has its own special flavor. I really believe that.

With the 14 coin lot off the site, we are now under 300 officially listed online.

<< <i>Just ran across this ad on the forums. Nice that Amazon is supporting PCGS!
I clicked it and it took me to pcgs coins. I expected to go to the SRH.
I see no million dollar coin on amazon but I'm not tracking other listings
<< <i>Looks like they are still discovering more of them.
Or maybe the returns are flowing in?
default sorting on kagin's site shows 14, but sorting high to low shows 16
those 16's on the 8th and 9th should also be 14's as I didn't realize the numbers were different and looked at the high to low sort on those 2 days
kagin's will have to say if the 2 are really for sale or a database error (83S $20 63+, $10 92S 62)
Kagin's site now shows 16 with both default and hi to low sorting

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Remind me to check amazon's return policy on these
I see the generic Amazon return policy of 30 days. Are some of these being bought with the hope of resale?
