FYI - historic crossover rate is about 38%. Been at that steady rate for a couple of years. So on average, send in 5 coins, 2 will cross.

Cool. I was bummed that I missed out on the last one because my Baseball HOF coins didn't ship before the first strike deadline. But this one I'll use!

    Oh Goodie!

Yet one more quarterly special that I cannot nor will not use since I rarely purchase non-PCGS Slabbed coins which is kinda what PCGS wants anyway.

I'd much preferred the 1 free grading quarterly special since I could at least feel a value for my CC Membership.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Isn't there a 1% fee to cross? In the case of a lower grade, wouldn't you be better off cracking and submitting?

When submitting raw coins, one does not only need to consider a lower grade, but one must also consider a genuine holder.

Does this mean cross at the grade on the NGC holder or at any grade?

Let's apply logic to this question:

It would increase PCGS's chances of making money, therefore the answer is almost certainly...

This fee has been in effect for over one year. The crossover rate for the past 12 months is 37% which is about the all-time average.

Grading is independent of the business side of the company. That's another reason you can trust PCGS grades.

Can we specify a cross at a lower grade than what is on the NGC holder?

Absolutely. This is always an option.

I let my membership lapse. Can I join now and get the quarterly special, or, did I have to be a member in good standing on July 1st?

Thanks for the clarification Don. I still have a small number of NGC Busties I will now try to cross, at lower grades for sure. For me, this is the best Quarterly Special ever.

<< <i>Can we specify plus grades as the minimum? Ie only cross my ngc ms67 to ms66+ or better? >>

I imagine so. I've done that on crossovers in the past.

<< <i>Can we specify higher grades, ie cross my old holder ngc ms66 only if ms66+ or better? >>

Unless the rules have changed, I don't believe that is allowed.
  • DonWillisDonWillis Posts: 961 ✭✭✭
    Can we specify higher grades

No. The same rules apply as always for Crossovers.

You cannot specify a higher grade. It's possible you could get one. It occasionally happens but not often and cannot be a requirement.

Can we specify plus grades as the minimum?

Absolutely, as long as the grade is the same or lower than the current grade. Lots of people attempt to cross a 66 to 65+ for example.

For me, this is the best Quarterly Special ever.

    Thank you. image
