Seems like a lot of other dealers are giving Amazon a shot as there's 292 pages for PCGS coins alone.

Below is just a taste of what's listed beyond that Saddle Ridge hoard...

What are the Amazon seller's fees?

Makes a whole lot of sense to me. Ebay is now mostly fixed prices, and high prices to offset the Ebay/payal fee combo. If you have a fixed priced, some time and the seller's fees are lower, Amazon seems like an alternative to Ebay. If no one buys the fixed priced coin on Amazon, what have you lost?

Amazon will smoke Ebay on coin sales.

That is why they picked up the Saddle Ridge coins.

Give it a bit of time.

I actually remember having bought a couple slabbed coins on Amazon about a decade ago.

They ended coin sales on their site shortly after and I can't remember what the reason was?

I was contacted by one of their reps. The cost is not less than eBay (which would have made me try it). Without the cost being less, it is hard to justify paying the same amount for lower traffic. eBay traffic is so hard to beat. Traffic = Sales. When the masses move to Amazon, the dealers will follow. For now I already list coins in 3 places (i.e. my website, Collectors Corner and eBay) so doing it again in yet another place is not appealing unless there is a real value statement which I am not seeing (yet?).

Very good points. I believe that the fees will drop significantly in the category. A couple of years ago Ebay made a big push to PNG dealers with special offers. Much of that presence has evaporated on the site.

Bezos has long demonstrated his desire for volume over profit (wisely or not). Expect them to reach out soon with more attractive offers as they would love to wrestle this high dollar category away from Ebay. The cheap stuff, probably not so much.

I was contacted also. I was not happy that a seller had just flaked on a transaction for 4 of the gold HOF coins. He blamed Amazon for listing the item for sale. Basically as prices rose he did not complete the sale.

I think Amazon needs some new framework to make it all work.

I would love to see PCGS cut a deal with either Amazon or Ebay to have searches on those sites also search Collectors Corner. Give them a cut akin to Apple's cut of the AppStore

If eBay were smart, they'd separate coins from the rest of their operations and ....own..... the coin market.
They could represent at shows and everything.

BUT.... not as long as they try to apply all their stuff to coins.
I don't know if they could stomach the PayPal losses if they allowed stuff over a grand to be paid by any form acceptable to seller.
Plus different fees for bullion.

They COULD eat Heritage's lunch.

But not without expert coin help.

And if I were Heritage, I'd pay them to stay out.

I think people on this forum often forget that numismatic related business probably represents one of the smaller wedges of eBay's total revenue per year.

I do not like how the listings look on Amazon as you are limited in pics and descriptions and communications. The other issue is the cost is more than ebay and everyone already complains about that. edit to add: the search feature is a bit cumbersome when you want to narrow down your search results you have to pic a category first and if something is not listed properly by category it may be missed.
