cool Lib-head $2.5 gold piece from the family .. old reverse? I hope

This piece was recently passed down to me along with some other nice coins. I think that it may be an "old reverse" example based on the close position of the arrowheads and the shape of the "1" in "1/2" .... I'm pretty psyched about it! .... but I'm skeptical that it will grade with the rim hit at 5 o'clock. My pics are kind of fuzzy but you get the idea. Thoughts?

I say new reverse, with the gap between the claw and the fletch of the arrow being the easiest diagnostic from this photo.

But from this diagnostic photo on coinfacts, the closeness of arrows on mine and shape of 1 sure looks like on the old reverse example.
But I agree that the fetch seems off based on this pic, too.

The fetching on your coin matches the new revers and that is a very nice hand me down.

I vote for the "new" reverse. 2 cool coins and it's nice that they landed with someone who can appreciate both the numismatic as well as the family history.

New reverse as others have said. Nice coin!

I found a 60 $2.5 old reverse in the bottom of my step-dads old shoe box. Graded AU58 and CAC'd.

Very nice! Honestly I had no clue about old/new reverses on these until I looked at the price guide which got me to take a closer look.

Two strong AU coins, despite the rim ding on the quarter eagle. That "old reverse" immediately reminded me of 1861, as I once had a "new reverse", but had to grab the red book to remember the die characteristics. Then I came back here and voila : "there it is". The arrows nearly touching the letters is the pick up point. So hard to remember everything.

Another reason the RED BOOK is an essential.

Thanks for all the input. Looks like new-rev is the clear winner.
....but if I look at it long enough (and have some more gin) I can just about convince myself of anything.
