There is no better feeling in numismatics than taking out a raw $20 gold and just holding it in your careful fingers. Take them out of their tombs, whether it be a slab or the safe or a safe deposit box. Just do it. It's a rush of fun.

    $50 territorials are also very enjoyable if you have the opportunity. The only one I've owned was an XF details example (some chatter on the obverse which could be easily attributed to contemporary circulation, but neither NGC nor PCGS would straight-grade it). It was certainly fun to crack out and feel!

    I own numerous double eagles and two $50 gold coins (about 2-1/2 oz each) and, while they are quite impressive, nothing can compare to a 100 oz bar of pure silver. Those suckers are really heavy.image

    And they get heavier as the price drops further. Silver is dumb. I always knew that but just HAD to stack SMOE in my stash.

    It is nice to hold a $20 gold piece, but don't hand it over to family members. Do to the unexpected weight, they will drop them on the floor.

    Thanks for the Link...unfortunately that is not 100 lb - weight - coin, but a 100 pound English currency coin weighing 1 oz. Beautiful coins though...The medallion is also a piece of art.

    This is getting down to "mine's bigger than yours". Canada and Australia have mega big gold coins.
