Oh boy, something neat walked into the shop today!!

A guy called to say he was coming to the store. He's a regular who stops in every few weeks to buy bullion, coins and partake in what is usually some good entertainment. What is it about ex-military guys who collect coins?? Almost everyone connected with the shop in even the most remote way is a Vet as are a high percentage of our customers. We even have one Purple Heart recipient from WWII, about the nicest guy you'd want to meet. But, back to story at hand. When the caller came in he plopped a Velvet Crown Royal pouch on the counter and I heard the clank of Silver. At first I thought he was going to sell us something but then he explained it was a sort of "show-and-tell" instead.
What he had were two Silver bars. The first and most interesting was what he called a Flat-Top Pyramid that was about one and a half inches square, shaped like a Pyramid with a flat top(DUH!!) about an inch square which was stamped 1 Pound=14.6 ozt. along with some other stuff. It was pretty cool, I had never seen anything like it. He said he bought it from my boss about 20 years ago so you can imagine what he paid. The second bar requires no imagining-----it was a 50 ozt. Englehard and he had clipped the day's spot price from the paper when he bought it and taped it to the side----April 15, 1998 @ $4.97. We all had a good laugh with that! It reminded me of the last time I dumped any amount of coin Silver, it was around the same time and spot was $4.80.
We tried to take some pictures but it got pretty pathetic. The guy has an old school cell phone and I have never owned a cell phone, so it took some doing figuring out how to take a picture, but we got-er-done. After we did that we didn't know how to send me an e-mail so we grabbed a young woman that was in the store and asked if she'd help. She managed to do it but somehow the phone couldn't transmit the pictures so we just gave up!! I'm pretty adept at some things technological, sophisticated machinery and whatnot, but cell phones baffle me. My hope is to never own one.
Has anyone else ever seen one of those Pyramids??

No, and I've seen 1 troy pound -.999 objects that contained 12 troy ounces, which is the technical standard. If the flat top pyramid is actually marked 14.6 troy ounces, then it is 1 avoirdupois pound. Rather odd that the weight indicated would be indicated in two different systems of measurement.
Edited to add: 14.6 troy ounces = 1.2166 troy pounds.

My Grampa used to put his wheat cent hoards (It wasn't discriminate enough to be called collection) in those.
