bad experience with ebay buyer

derrybderryb Posts: 38,555 ✭✭✭✭✭
Buyer's paypal address is missing apartment number after his street address. Some of his purchases get delivered some don't - mine didn't. Buyer email address invalid and his ebay phone number is invalid. Finally reached him through messages and he says depending on who delivers his mail sometimes he gets it without the apartment number. My coins were returned to me by USPS, undeliverable. Have no problem with this but after I finally reached him through ebay messages he says to just send it to the correct address. I tell him to call me so I can explain that I have to send to exact address registered with paypal. He won't call so I can tell him how to simply correct his address in his paypal account and then resend his purchase to the correct address. Waiting on him to message me about why I refunded his money.

If he or she does not reply either by email or phone I would just cancel the transaction request refund on listing fees etc. and move on!
    Block them after.

all fees were refunded when I refunded the buyer. It's automatic.

Every so often I think "I have to get back on Ebay to get rid of some excess" and then a story like this reminds me just how fun it can be. You're correct on the feedback not telling the whole story. I stopped selling when Ebay stopped allowing sellers to leave fair feedback.

I would report him to PayPal & relist the item.

I'd never ship to an unconfirmed address for a stranger.

invalid contact info is a Terms of Service violation that ebay takes very seriously.

When you bend over for a customer, it's one thing. When he bends you over , it's another.

Adding an apartment number will not disqualify you from buyer protection. It is still the confirmed address.

Don't reship them, they could be stolen or lost. Cancel the transaction and block the buyer.

If he gives a neg simply reply to it "Sorry we tried to help but the address you gave was invalid and our material was returned. For security reasons we do not ship to unconfirmed addresses." This will warn other sellers and hopefully fix his wagon in getting blocked. I would also call ebay customer service and dispute the neg. Yes there are a lot of bad buyers on ebay.

Someone this irresponsible is either a scammer or simply not worth fooling with.

Yes it is. Absolutely the best if YOU know what you are doing.

Agree. Been doing it for almost 14 years, w/o any major issues.

I wouldn't. I have a requirement that they have to have a PayPal account, and you are not fooling PayPal. I have sold to at least 5 brand new eBay customers and never had a problem.
