1949 S Franklin. PCGS MS65... Prooflike?

Is there any chance this would go PL across the street? It seems to have the die polishing that most of the PL examples exhibit. It currently sits in a PCGS MS65 Holder.

No way to tell. If it is has nice mirrors, I think it will need a dip first. They have graded 21 PL in this date though!
  • I agree. These are the images I had as I am waiting for it to come in the mail.

    I don't think so.

You'd have to dip it which then might show more than what you really want to see through all that field haze.

    But that's just my opinion.

Look, You've got a PCGS MS65 and entertaining the thought that going ATS for some type of upgrade is just a wee bit presumptuous.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    Hi Robby,

My gut says no. I don't see die scratches or contrast of any time, but the coin does appear to have some subtle beige toning.

You'll likely have to give him a dip to find out if it's PL.

It will be semi-PL at least I bet. Good luck!

Not to rain on your find… but these are are a hard sell w/o the FBL, as most that get the PL are also FBL. Still, a very nice find, just don't start seeing $$ in your mind's eye...

Now on my desktop computer, I see what you're talking about. Tiny iPhone screen doesn't always allow me to see small characteristics like die scratches.

The only way to know if it's PL is to see it in hand or in high-quality pictures. Assuming you bought it, be sure to take betters photos and post them here when you get the coin! image
