For some odd reason I am finding in all the Walmart blasters the last 2 cards of each pack are like bent in the opposite direction and causing what looks like stretchmarks on the front of the card. There were a few that were really bad that i just threw away. About 10 blasters in and still no "hot" blaster with purple refractors. Must be 1 per case just like hobby.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
So far I have only found one black back (out of a jumbo pack).
I see Topps on-line is selling retail boxes (73.00) and blasters (20.00) direct.
They probably don't contain any "color" variations cards, which would be a downside to buying direct.
Also, wonder if the retail boxes resemble the same mix as hobby (minus the box topper), with one relic or auto per box and the same ratio of SPs and inserts.
From Topps On-line Retail Box Description: I guess the Checklist card is different, they are missing in hobby, right? Doesn't look like any guarantee per box.

Of course, we will also have the Real One Autographs and Clubhouse Collection Relics that are staples of Heritage Baseball. 500 card base set that includes error cards and throwback uniform variations for a fun chase. Look for two Chrome parallels a Refractor and a Black Chrome set as random inserts. Also scarce black back version of the base cards provide a third level of chase. Randomly inserted mini cards in the 1965 design are also part of this series for 2014.
Each pack contains nine (9) 2014 Topps Heritage Baseball Cards
A Checklist Card will be inserted into every 8th Pack as an additional Card 9 cards per pack, 24 packs per box

I saw boxes for under $70 recently but can't remember where........since I don't collect all the subsets, parallels, ssp's, etc I try to get the boxes witht he most cards in them pricewise and believe the wax or retail is best
I was at Target today and saw a blaster and picked one up. This will be the first wax I have opened since 1996. The scans below are pack # 1. I was fairly impressed by the quality for Topps, most cards are centered and no print dots or blemishes.
I got a NAP-YD Darvish See scan below. #21 Jon Jay, #122 Tyler Chatwood, #337 Jimmy Rollins, #354 Mariners Rookie Stars Taijuan Walker / James Paxton, #358 Vernon Wells, #368 Rookie Stars Matt Davidson / Chris Owings, #370 Matt Kemp, #424 Zack Wheeler
One hobby box, 10 blasters, 4 jumbo packs later and.... I have not pulled a single #250 Mike Trout!! Didn't know a fresh water fish could be a white whale.
But on the bright side I have 9 of #22 A.J. Ellis and 8 of #235 Kevin Gregg.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
Got my first Target box. Is this called a blaster or hobby box? Has 8 packs. Can't find the odds on the box...but how rare is a "game used memorabilia" card? Pulled one. And a red border. Otherwise nothing too exciting. Is this what i should be buying!
It's a Blaster box. Red border is 1:8 packs. So there should be one per box. Relic is 1:69, not very rare, and in most cases not real valuable, but better than nothing.
Hobby boxes have the best odds for the bigger hits. They are available from Card Dealers, Shops, Shows, Online etc., anything in Target, Wal-Mart is a retail box, and loose packs should be avaioded as they are more than likely thumbed through. A hobby box is 24 packs and can be found in the $65-$75 range. A sealed hobby box comes with a box topper too, either an advertising panel of 3 cards, a 1965 Topps card with a gold stamp on it (buyback), or a numbered insert such as the 1965 embrossed style that can be seem earlier in this thread.

For the life of me, I can't picture one, and can't recall one on the checklist. Mind posting a pic?
Value wise, it's blasters. Or as Topps calls them "Value Boxes". Three blasters = a retail box, for $60.00.
The trade off is the contents. Each 8-pack box gets you a couple of inserts and a couple of SPs and one color variation. There is no guarantee of a "hit" when you purchase 3 boxes.
I guess the three black-border cards are the draw for the blister. Their value being the price difference. And I think the Blister is suppose to deter "pack searchers" in the retail landscape.
I always went for Blasters over packs as well in retail.
The draw for the Blisters is 100% the black bordered cards. its a 100 card set and in the past, has been difficult to put together because pretty much the 3-card black packs run in sequence. in 2011 and 2012 i opened many many blisters lol

The previous years the black border was strictly blister packs?
I had a couple cello-type three card packs but I couldn't remember where I got them from, I guess that would be the only way.
So, if you wanted to put the three color variations sets together through retail packs, you would spend a minimum of $500 at Target buying 25 Blasters, getting 25 red borders (no doubles), another $500 at Wal-Mart for the blue, and apparently at a minimum 34 blister packs for $322.66.
Visited five Targets here locally in North Texas; found three blisters at one, came up empty at the rest. Did pull a Black Border Jeter, so that made the trip worthwhile. Is it just me, or is Target slower than usual in getting the Heritage on the shelves?

I have found it to be the PS3 of Topps Heritage and even more so in N Tx. After picking up 4 blasters finally at Target, I thought I was finished with hunting stuff down at Target. Will have to try the one at park & tollway tonight.
OK. Picked up 2 blister packs and a blaster, just because I want to be disappointed. Anyway, it'll give me an excuse to pick up 2 more blisters later on. Will report results this weekend…learn something new all the time with Heritage.
Here are the 2 Blister bust results. You'll get 1 SP & 1 Insert (I got a then & now in each pack), plus the 3 black borders. But I was pleasantly surprised with the hits. That's a black back, in one and the other contained a pujols refractor & blue ink auto. Stay tuned. I noticed something in the packaging, and I'm going to test my theory later on today, if I can finish up landscaping the front any time soon. I will trade my black borders for any yankees black borders for those picking up blisters.

EDIT that to say Blasters are a great value for commons and base cards....... I think I have to re-consider Blasters especially when I no longer need base (1-425), $20 for a color variation seems excessive.
I picked up a couple of packs of 2014 Heritage (along with some 2010 Heritage they had) hoping to pull some Brewers. Except for 2 Carlos Gomez NAPs, did not have any luck in that regard.
Everything below is for trade- looking for Brewers from this set or any Ryan Braun cards I need (I am especially looking for Braun chromes or parallels from 2014 Heritage) thanks
Actually the same number of SPs I normally get in a blaster....plus the black borders are selling for around $3 each on the bay, so there is the value of the blister right there. Still wondering how many cards are in the black border set, that will dictate if I will try to complete it or not.

I opened a blaster from wal mart this morning. I pulled the last pack and it was real thick so I though it might be one of those book cards but it turned out to be 13 cards in one pack. I've opened maybe 7-8 blasters between this year and last and never seen a pack with more than 9 cards in it. I also hit the purple refractor box this year like last, and pulled max scherzer in both years. Lol

<< <i>So I'm seeing prices everywhere. What's a fair, typical price for blaster vs hobby vs retail, walmart box?

Blasters at Walmart or Target typically run 19.99 plus tax.
For me, I would use $3.04 per pack as a baseline. (used to be $2.99)
The retail box (24* 3.04)= $72.96.
Blasters (or what Topps call "Value Boxes") are $19.99 for [7 packs (+ a "bonus pack") or 8 packs]. Which equates to $2.50 per pack.
Retail prices in the big chains are locked, they can't vary.
Hobby distributors can use the market, and throw out phrases like "market price" to charge whatever they want.

Base -- 64 cards ( I got a Trout which is the only base card I care about)
Inserts -- 4 cards (Ernie Banks FB, Gibson/Wainwright TN, Carlos Gomez NAP, Nolan Ryan 1st Draft)
SPs -- 3 cards (444 Yu Darvish, 492 Jordan Zimmermann, 500 Miguel Cabrera)
Blue SP -- 300 Clayton Kershaw
Nothing to write home about with my fourth blaster. Not sure if I will do another one.

Got a chrome in the second box (or refractor) who knows. And a trout new age performer. Eh.
So what other boxes are left that may give me bigger hits? A hobby box? Cause at $20 blaster each this could take forever other than a base set.
Where are retail and jumbo boxes sold? Didnt see an retail. Mick says retail is about $70. Is this where the purple and more valuable hits are?
I have only found Jumbo packs and Blasters in retail (Wal-Mart & Target).

Value wise, it's blasters. Or as Topps calls them "Value Boxes". Three blasters = a retail box, for $60.00.
