How many cards in the black border set? Do they have the same # as the regular cards?

I am sure there will be a 100 cards but not sure about the numbers.

Well, opened what I believe will be my last two Wal-Mart Blaster boxes. Five on the shelf, I grabbed the two basic ones.

    5 SPs
    2 NAP
    1 BFB
    2 T&N
    1 DRAFT
    2 NFB
    2 Color Variation

May have to order a couple of Retail Boxes from Topps Direct next.

Has ANYONE pulled an action, logo or black back out of a blaster? I think the blasters are barren this year. In years past I have had decent pulls, but this year nothing but the ordinary. Only low odds pull has been a black refractor and thats it. I even pulled 2 action out of the only hobby box I bought so far. I can't see buying any more blasters if I will only be getting the same old distribution again and again.

I got my black back Uggla from a blaster, other hits include a black chrome Strasburg, a red auto Wacha, and a dual relic #'ed to65. Three blasters were "hot boxes" with purple refractors in each pack. Also had 2 minis xxx/100 Sabathia and Buchholz. Not to mention the red borders in the Target blasters. Plus most of them were only $15 as I had $5 off coupons from Topps Series 1 blasters from Target.

    Too funny and strange .....

Little disappointed in my Autos from hobby this year... (so far)

Found this on the web... (edited)

Hey, here's something rare for this set! A visible jersey for a Houston player! It's a breath of fresh air after all of those bare-headed portraits. While Topps was reluctant to show players in the discontinued Colt .45s caps and home jerseys, the road jerseys that just had the city name in block letters were probably fair game. Maybe they could have gone to greater lengths to find more photos of Houstoners in gray, hmm?

The Colts promoted Yellen to the big leagues and he made one start on September 26, 1963. He allowed four runs (two earned) in five innings and received no decision.

-Larry began 1964 in the majors, but pitched sparingly and ineffectively in relief and spent much of the second half at AAA Oklahoma City. He racked up a 6.86 ERA in 21 big league innings that year.
-He returned to the minor leagues in 1965, going 3-12 between AA Amarillo and AAA Oklahoma City.

-After 1965, there is no record of Larry Yellen having pitched again, nor did I turn up any explanation for his pro career ending at age 22. He had a 6.23 ERA and no wins, losses or saves in 14 career games.

I appreciate that Topps sticks with the "last year" concept for Autos. Just not so much when I find one of them, especially when autos in general are tough to find.

Just opened a Hobby box. My mis-cut box.

Quite a few base were off-center, some worse than others. Fortunately, the SPs were not:

    Very basic box.

    Wilin Rosario Relic

    2 CHR
    1 REF
    1 Action
    8 SP
    3 NAP
    2 Draft
    2 NFB
    2 BFB
    2 T&N

Only good thing is that it was that box that I needed all eight SPs.

Bought 2 blasters at wally world today

    1st one had 4 SP's and a Tulo relic

    2nd one had 2 SP's

Neither box had a chrome card which originally surprised me but when I realized the serial # was down, made more sense.

You got a 'hot box'. They're 1 per case I believe for both hobby and blasters, every pack in one of those boxes contains a purple refractor. Nice hit for only purchasing one! I think I bought seven blasters and never saw a purple.

Bought a box of Topps On-line Retail. I will post the results. $72.99 a box (no box topper (?)).

Here are the wrapper odds: (hobby is on the top, retail below).

Not sure how Topps is pushing the On-line retail, the odds are pretty much the same. Better chance for the cut signatures, I guess. No Image or Logo variations which is not good.

Hopefully the scan is not too big, my eyes are going.

Not that good. But I hope you had some fun with it anyway.

It's my opinion that there are no checklist cards. That write up was copied from one a few years back when retail did have checklists. I remember that exact same wording years ago. Sorry you didn't get anything good but buying a hobby box will always be better than buying a full retail box.

    True.

Funny because I wasn't expecting much. I got pretty much what I would have expected if I bought them from Wal-Mart or Toys R us.

I thought the checklist cards were something of interest, so I was curious to see what they looked liked. A costly error.

Glad Topps doesn't care enough to update the sell information.

I should feel lucky because I did find:

"Also scarce black back version of the base cards provide a third level of chase."

As far as the "fun" level..... it starts to decline when I'm only looking at one card per pack....

Mick, from what I understand, the black backs are pretty rare. Which card was it? Have you checked for action photo or logo variations? Any relics?

To everybody still looking at this thread: I'm looking for parallels of #49 bogaerts/schoop. I have the regular one, but I'd be interested in any other parallels: refractor, black back, purple, blue, red, or any other parallel I failed to mention here. PM me if you've got one of these available.

No relic/auto (no guarantee in the retail box).

According to the odds on the back, no image or logo variation in the box.

Will need to check for the obscure birthdate error, etc.

Black back (1:444) same as hobby, was card No 1, league leaders. Which is on ebay for $800.00, so maybe I should cash in..... image

I'm not a big fan of them, would rather find the elusive throwback uniform, or even a mini (which I would rather see as an on-line box set by itself).

The extra checklist card, was that from 2006 ??

Still can't figure out why they would specifically add that to the description.
