Let's see, that makes you quite a bit older than me. imageimage

Here's a recent pic of me and Gpa putting away a few gin martinis......he will happily drink you under the table if you're game.

Ha, true. But that's how he drinks them. 3 shots Gordon's or Bombay Sapphire and one shot extra dry vermouth. On ice. Period.

Good for him! He's old enough to have them any way he likes. Sounds like my kinda grandpa.

I'm enjoying one right now. A little drier that what gramps likes. With three jalapeño-stuffed olives.

I do love those old ANA holders too!

Gordon's vs Sapphire....isn't that quite a grading spread?
Not a big drinker but was under the impression they are not in the same flight!
Oh well, maybe it is the destination and not the journey!
    Enjoy.

Gin Martini is redundant...if there's no Gin, there's no Martini...image
If you can get a bottle, try Junipero. Made by Anchor Steam in San Francisco. Great in a dry Martini...

I think the designation has become needed since Bond brought the Vodka Martini into vogue.

Indeed. And yes they're quite different on some levels. But Gordon's is a good pick on the cheap and therefore a favorite, too. image

jayPem, I'll have to try that one sometime...

I have always preferred Tanqueray gin..... Tanqueray No. 10 when available..... True Martini drinkers are quite particular when it comes to the makeup of the Martini... some prefer the jigger of vermouth, while others just a whisper....and of course everything in between. The current aberrations (i.e. appletini etc) are for the, hmmmmm, how shall I say it, well, being polite - they are not really martini's and usually are partaken in social circles where faux status is more important than real character and experience. Cheers, RickO

That's ugly...you don't want to own it. You should sell it to a guy who collects mercury dimes, and other shiny things image He'll appreciate such common ugly filth image

All kidding aside, I'm jealous...I have a book of color Morgan and Peace dollars that only has 3 color Peace dollars as they are so hard to come by.

    Congrats! Real nice...
