Play Ball ! Today's Fun In The Waiting Room

I logged in to the Mints web site at 5:20 HST (11:20 EST) this morning to wait the release of the Baseball Hall Of Fame coins. I will relate my experience in this post with updates and edits as they happen. Opened the page for the Gold Unc

Catalog Closed at 5:45 just as noted. A countdown clock shows how much time until it catalog opens. Right at 6:00 am the countdown was replaces by my estimated wait time...9 minutes. Its counting down.

It bounces between 1 minute and under one minute a few times....and I'm in. Actual waiting time 12 minutes. The Featured Item page comes up and shows the Proof Dollar, I click Add To Cart. Loading...Loading.....OH NO...I get a message that I have been idle for more than 30 minutes and need to log in. I quickly log in again fearing I will be forced to the back of the line again....Loading...Loading....Phew! I'm back in the catalog at the featured item page. Where are the baseball coins...Ah under Commemoratives.

There's the list. I click one at a time. Loading each time. Commemoratives, the list, click the next one. Got them all, click on the cart. Loading. Check it over. OK, they are all here. Quick Check Out. Loading. Review the order. Place the order. Done. Got an order number. 429208XX

Email comes in at 6:22 HST

It was nerve racking but I got one each comming.

Got busy with the mailman and signed in to the site about 10 minutes ago to take a swing of the bat, if puns are okay.
1.5 hour wait in the waiting room.

First come first serve ? Short window for the sell out or mad rush to madness ?

By far the worst, most backwards idiotic "improvement" ever! I waited 42 minutes until I finallt got the "It's your turn" message, then was put in an interminable wait. The mint website never came up for me after 3 1/2 hours of waiting. I closed the page a couple minutes ago and just tried logging in again. I'm back in the waiting room with a 42 minute wait. I'm sure the golds are long gone by now...

Mint website said wait 40 minutes, I went to read Ivanhoe.

Then I was able to quickly order the two varieties of silver dollar (proof and unc).

They are "backordered" until May.

Got to the redirect page via Firefox and it's been almost an hour and no redirect. After a couple of minutes I copied and pasted that URL into Chrome and it went lots faster. You will need to select commems to see all of the options.

They were still available as of a few minutes ago. At least I could have ordered them if I wanted to.

None of the pages are loading. US Mint servers suck.

Took 40 minutes. Just opened another page and played around while waiting. Placed two orders so I can adjust later if I need to. Wasn't that bad if you waited awhile. These will take days most likely weeks to sell out but probably will. You will get them tomorrow. Not sure if the curve aspect will be a plus or just a gimmick (negative). Didn't buy gold. Figured the dollars will more likely double than gold and was seriously thinking half dollars. These coins will appeal to non collectors who do not spend big bucks but the halves are nearly half the cost of a dollar so I suck with both proof and uncirculated dollars.

I just went in and ordered a few of the gold baseballs...took me all of 2-3 minutes to complete....

This process was eerily similar to my Obamacare website experience.

The US government just doesn't get it.
