Ya, when I got mine the first thing I thought was why it wassnt graded???... Second thing was why the heck I couldn't find anything out about it besides this post... And for u who want to know, my economy order was marked received on 1/28 and shipped on 2/28 and I got it on the 29th
<< <i>Hey profheroldhill, can u please post pics of your sunspot coin??? >>
This one's clearly worth a premium. >>
That's on the coin? I saw that on mine and assumed it was on the slab surface!
So is it a carbon spot when both of us have it?
I just checked the ones on Ebay - not sure, but I think I see the same thing on one. Oh, and one is up to $250.00 now, so it should hit $5,000,000 by end of week..
Seriously, what it looks like to me is a polishing miss, but I doubt that would be on both our coins.

Would be one stunning coincidence if it was carbon spotting.
Haven't looked at it closely, just assumed it was spotting.
$250?? Have to seriously rethink my current strategy on the coin.
One ends tomorrow, that I know of, but last I saw it was well under $100.00 still. >>
Take a look at the ebay ones. Some of the photos are crapola, but I *think* I see this same blemish on one.
Be funny if your "sunspot variety" becomes real. It looks to me like missing polishing, but that would be weird for two of us to have it. I'm going to see if I can get a better pic of that area. Tough with an iPhone as my camera
The location is the same, but the shape of the spotting is slightly different. Though my image doesn't show much detail, yours clearly shows the spot, so I can compare to mine in hand.
It's an area that would be in contact with the plastic of a coin flip, so I'm 'leaning toward' the idea of improper storage, maybe in PVC flips. That could explain why there are others with the same/similar spot, while allowing for differences in shape/severity.
Closer examination of others would likely provide the definitive answer.
Therefore, in the interest of 'applied numismatics'... everyone should donate their DH 50M coins to me, so that I might carry out valid scientific research, as to the cause of this great mystery. >>
Yes, an excellent idea and wonderful of you to volunteer. I suggest that people send the coins to me so that I can someday put them in one box to send to you, saving you the time of unpacking. It's the least I can do.
<< <i>BTW... This thread will apparently self-destruct, based on the fact it keeps slipping further down the list, regardless of posts!
Is it a conspiracy to thwart aftermarket value? ....Or does it contain a message for Ethan, of the IMF? >>
Conspiracy. I LOVE conspiracies (while remaining outraged at the secret forces who have been conspiring against me).
They want to keep our discoveries buried. You watch, although our coins are plainly worth millions, they will never be listed and any thread that discusses them will be edged downward just like this one.
Hey guys, I was one of the first to get one. It was from a coin sub, not sports.... I see some on eBay with a letter signifying the event & My question is, how did people get them as I did not get one???... Were they sent to the sports guys only so they knew not to break them open???... Please help as I would like the letter but don't want to have to buy another coin just for the letter. THANKS!

Looking for PCGS AU58+ 1901-P, 1896-O, & 1894-O
<< <i>Hi forum. There is one on eBay under ''David hall 50,000,000'' >>
There are 3 under "PCGS 50,000,000". One is at $91 and has 23 bids with a week to go.
Update: The $120 BIN is gone, so only two listed now.
<< <i>What I don't get is why a coin celebrating the 50 millionth from a grading company is not graded.
Wow, It's also an error.
Countless large & small dollar deals completed
I'm not selling it. Well, unless they hit $5,000,000

<< <i>I got my order today. One of these signed (and yes, ungraded) coins was included.

Apparently not many people are selling them, judging from the few on ebay, and none on BST as yet that I've noted. >>
Well, don't go ruining the market by selling yours for less than 5 million.
Seriously, it's a cool thing and I'm keeping it. In twenty years it may just be a proof 50 cent commem encased in an odd holder, but that's ok.

It was a Modern order, sent in 2/11, grades posted Friday, shipped Friday, arrived in Florida today.
I'm a proud recipient! Very nice touch, PCGS!

I feel extra lucky to get some genuine Orange County Green!
edit to try to get a pic up…
<< <i>I got a different "black-hole-sun" variety. Looks like a carbon spot to the nekked eye but upon magnification it is green and looks to be PVC.

Heck of a way to treat proofs! Cheap proofs, yes, but still.. PVC???

I don't know. I've been looking at the ones on ebay and several seem to have this spot. Seems odd..
