New NGC slab boxes. Very nice!!!

I just received 3 NGC slab boxes in the mail. They hold 20 slabs/each & are compatible with PCGS also.
I have seen these sell on Ebay for $8 a piece. I got them directly from NGC for $3.5/each.
The total was $13 for 3 boxes including shipping. I love these because they are thick plastic and slim.
They offer great portability and protection. I would recommend these to anyone.
Call NGC at 1800NGCCOIN and ask for Mellissa. When someone makes a great product, we should
tell everyone. I consider these a bargain compared to Intercept shields that only hold 10. The
Intercept shield may offer great protection, but the NGC boxes are attractive hazel-brown, thick plastic.
I say if you have that level of thickness, plus addittional plastic in the slab. , How much more protection
do you need. I would love to hear others...

Brian.

After seeing this post by Brian, I called NGC and ordered a couple boxes. This was Monday. They told me it would probably be a week or longer before they arrived. Well, here it is Thursday and they are already here.
Really nice too. Hold both the NGC and PCGS slabs.
My kudos to NGC on how fast they responded to the order, and for putting out a good product. Still like PCGS, but since I don't have blind loyalty to either service, nice to have a container that holds both slabs.

Brian - you said, in part "I say if you have that level of thickness, plus addittional plastic in the slab. , How much more protection do you need. I would love to hear others..."

The thickness of the plastic isn't necessarily going to protect the coin from the oxidation process. Intercept Shield may or may nor be for you, but it is important to note that it works very differently from and better than a thick plastic box and a plastic slab.

Do PCGS coins fit like they were meant to fit in NGC boxes or does it look make-shift?

    Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
  • Nothing makeshift about it. They fit very nicely. The whole package looks good.

Both PCGS and NGC are an excellent fit in NGC boxes.

To further clarify Mark's post . Neither NGC nor PCGS slabs claim to prevent oxidation of your coins. Intercept shield does claim to reduce oxidation. Coins stored slabbed or unslabbed in unfavorable environmental conditions (i.e. damp humid places) are subject to accelerated oxidation. There have been many threads on this forum on preservation of coins and optimal conditions for coin storage and suggestions for use of dessicants such as silica gel. As indicated above, PCGS boxes work well for PCGS slabs but NGC holders rattle around in them and the lids don't fit tightly with NGC slabs. NGC boxes fit both slabs well. I personally use NGC boxes because I have coins from both gradding companies.

Trime - thanks for the clarification. I couldn't have said it better myself and I didn't!image
  • NGC boxes are the best. I started to notice that many newer PCGS slabs had fine scratches on the raised portion that holds the coin. I put two slabs side by side in the center of the box and squeezed them both together......they touched. If you notice PCGS slabs stack but are not designed to prevent the raised part from touching. I think they develope this "scratching" when they are shipped in the PCGS boxes. NCG boxes do not allow any slab to touched regardless of how you shake them.

  • I'm glad to hear you guys agree with Brian about the NGC slab boxes. At his earlier suggestion I immediately called NGC, spoke to Melisssa and ordered 3 boxes..Great bargain price too.
If I don't get these coins under control soon,I'm afraid my wife's gonna give them away to the Halloween urchins!
