A Northern California couple out walking their dog on their Gold Country property stumbled across a modern-day bonanza: $10 million in rare, mint-condition gold coins buried in the shadow of an old tree.

Nearly all of the 1,427 coins, dating from 1847 to 1894, are in uncirculated, mint condition, said David Hall, co-founder of Professional Coin Grading Service of Santa Ana, which recently authenticated them.

it's coins. There are people that are famous within the hobby, but in the grand scheme of things everyone is pretty small.

On this topic, I'll be momentarily famous Sunday night. I have a 1 minute Pepsi commercial airing during the Oscars. I'm on a mission to deliver some Pepsi. I did have to feed the vending machine. It was a 2001 p sac and a 1996 d Washington(keeping it coin related)

Nice! My kid brother does "that thing of yours" as well...Congrats and I'll now be recording it and then zip through the meat to find your commercial...I sometimes add a splash of Pepsi to my bourbon...but only for color & context

Lots of greats I have failed to mention but these come to mind as famous or maybe notorious in Bongo's case!

I know it says I have only been on these boards since 2013 but I used to be Oxy8890.

I think there are three categories, famous among the general population, famous within the collecting community (hobby) and famous on these boards.

My thoughts are:

Monsterman - Greg Bingham

List of many within the hobby, as was stated, maybe 10 equals

On the boards, Bear, without question IMHO

One of the more interesting forum members, for long timers, was Russ.
We saw him post as a newbie and eventually, over time, become a bonafide Franklin expert.
He really loved the series and dove in head first.

Er, I think Russ would tear you a new one if you referred to him as the "Franklin expert".

He was the Kennedy guy, with special interest in AH 1964 CAMs/DCAMs and SMS Cameos, IIRC.
