Bout time for me to chime in.....a ghost from the past! What's soooooo interesting to me is the progression of some of these magnificent coins over time. By that I mean that an inordinate number of the coins in my my original set what since (since being the last 6-7 years) upgraded to PCGS MS68 and NGC MS68 slabs after I sold them......and more than a few of the coins pictured in this post.

And there absolutely has been sticker shock as well.........some of these same coin have sold for significant multiples of what I sold them for.......and I didn't let them go cheap (at the time). So quality (quality being toning) has stood the test of time, whether that be $600 or $6000 and if is a particularly desirable coin, then the sky's the limit.

Don't believe me? You find a 61-P that is toned like a 58-D and rainbowroosie will make your year by paying STUPID money..........what you say Bill, $1000, 2000, 3000 for such a coin without bands??????

<< <i>Catbert, I believe you are correct. I have purchased from Quality Rare Coins out of
Santa Monica, CA a few times and have not been disappointed either in the coin or
    the service.
Personally, having no problems with that seller, either recently or in the past, I feel the
reputation that precedes him in unwarranted. Yes, we may feel some of his prices are. >>

    I echo that sentiment.
Over the years I've learned to take people at face value on personal experience instead of backbiting relayed from others.

Here is a recent- within the last couple of weeks or so- coin I purchased from QRC and am extremely pleased with the service- communications, and quality of
    the coin.

    Edited to add:
Months ago I had a couple of quick questions regarding an offering from this seller on eBay.
He was professional and kind in his response and didn't treat my inquiry as if I was a little kid (as some sellers do).

I love this thread. It is just another example that every nook and cranny in numismatics has specialists. I am amazed and humbled by the knowledge and fervor over Roosevelt dimes. I have bought and sold thousands for bullion prices without giving them a second look. Mint sets, rolls, Whitman books, proofs - you name it. My ignorance has probably led someone to cherry pick me just like I try to do with the series I love.

The past was not all imaginary if anyone can shows parts to be.

I hope he is living it down. I hope in the future there is hope in making the past the past, or where's the righting the wrong going to come from?

BNB and I know he's reading this, was humbled by the lessons he learned not only here but else where as well. His learning curve was a steep and slippery slope but has built up his inventory with some really stunning offers. Lets just say he has turned the corner and is on an even keel for smooth sailing.
