<< <i>Not a US coin, but my favorite purchase. This coin is one of six available to private collectors, with a handful more in museums. It was minted to commemorate the opening games at the Colosseum in 80AD and was handed out by the emperor Titus to key spectators. It's about the size of a half dollar but twice as thick.
since this first coin was one I obtained via a trade, it can't be my favorite PURCHASE of 2013 (1829 LM-8, PCGS AU-55).
Thus, I must post this coin as my favorite purchase of 2013. I purchased this R-6 half dime shortly after obtaining the above R-6 (formerly R-7) half dime at the FUN show way back in January.

Tough to compete with classic gold, CBH's, Trade bucks, etc but it's one of my latest purchases. Was in a NGC64 holder now raw. I believe most would consider this a 5, some may go with a nice 64. Sure is a white boomer imo.
EDIT: Re-shot it, the first image was a bit fuzzy.

This is very tough, I've picked up many nice ones this year, the most recent being Ankur's colorful 55-O half. By a narrow margin I'll submit this one, since I was looking for a nice one the better part of a decade:
The beauty of this thread is struggling and watching others struggle to pick ONE. Then seeing what they decide to post when you are familiar with some of their acquisitions this year.

I purchased maybe 3 coins this past year. This one is my favorite. A Henry VIII groat circa 1527. I just love the details and all the history behind it.
