Oh mine thinks I'm Da Man. She inherited a bunch of buffalo nickel sliders used for years as poker chips. I searched then sold for the high light, 2 of them raw and handed her $725 cash...image

My MIL was very supportive of my collecting...mostly because she assumed that when her daughter finally came to her senses and left me that the collection would go with her.

Now, after my wife's death a few years ago she thinks that I should leave them to her.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I don't know what she would say, and really don't care.

My mother in law is mostly supportive. She believes that my coin collection is made up of circulation coins. She talks to everyone about everything,so I dont correct her.

Mine gave me all her father's coins, which he collected during his service as an Army doctor in WWII Europe. None of them were/are worth very much, all in highly circulated condition. But the gesture was much appreciated as she had no idea of their value (sentimental, of course). She gave them to me simply because I'm part of the family and she knew I would appreciate them more than anyone else. She also came to me for advice on selling some Krugerrand and a gold necklace containing a worn $2.5 Indian.

Also, you guys have me image like crazy. Thanks for that imageimage

  • I am nowhere near the privilege of bearing the title “collector” as I only own a few modern coins. However, if the saying is true; the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree, then my MIL (passed away before I met my beautiful wife) would be okay with it temporarily. Quoting my wife “I’m sick of hearing about your stupid coins, why don’t you go log into your little chat forum”…. image
