The "big one" for 2011 Lincoln Cent errors

Saw this on Ebay and wanted to see what opinions this forum has on these. I hadn't seen it before. Important doubled die error?

Not on my bucket list.

when compared to the 55 this is hardly the big one
and Wexler's has a few 2011 DDO, but none labeled "big one" but some "best of" Those "best of" are easier to see than the OP's linked one
not total ebay bs, but there is a sprinkling of ebay listing hype on them.
and the op linked one may or may not be, as the glare makes it hard to tell
Hoard the keys.
If you don't agree you should take it up with "The Pros"
I think it's easily seen on the date. The "2" looks like a Swan, The 0 has an ovoid center, and the 1s are pointed on top and bottom

I have one slabbed in 63 ANACs if you are interested, I also have one raw somewhere
Cheers

<< <i>Interesting, but if that's the "big one" of 2011, it must be a rather ho-hum year... >>
Maybe so, but it's way more interesting than this from 2006
And this lists for $125 in MS65
Personally I like the 2011 better. I have seen very few MS examples for sale, almost all the Ebay sales are for circulated coins.
I think the 2011 Big one is gonna make the CPG and once , so it will climb in value. Its a rather huge class 4,8 specimen and I have only come across a handful in 62-64 range to boot as well and only found in circulation.
I have to agree on the 2011, very interesting compared to the 06 EAR IMO

<< <i>Perhaps youre mistaken as far as pricing? The 06 Ear is rather elusive in high grade. I sold a PCGS slabbed 65 for $250 and I believe PCGS doesn't even attribute this coin to FS. Much more desirable to collectors and to my knowledge has only been found in circulation, not in BU rolls. 64s would probably sell in the $50-$100 range raw and many exist in this grade. >>
Congrats on the sale. The $125 price was from the website that the picture comes from. I personally don't find the 2006 interesting. At least on the 2011 all devices are affected.

Well, I have to agree -- I don't get the pizzaz of the 06. If you didn't know exactly what to look for, you would miss it. I'm only interested in the errors that display something definitely recognizable as "wrong" or "what the H?". Clear doubled dates, 6 fingers, large die breaks, etc.
not sure I would spot them easily in the wild. John only attached value to one of the several variations which tells me there's not much value given overall to these errors. I appreciate
Papi's position on these...but there's nothing like the 2009p Formative doubled dies for variety and excitement in finding them!
<< <i>I went back into Wexler's site to take a closer look at these doubled dies. Not many are rated as "best of" and although I do see the highlighted errors (with arrows to point them out) I'm

There's inconsistencies with most sites, and their valuations are subjective. The 2011 "Big One" is cool, but you're right; a SKELETON beats it bones down.

Easily seen? With what? An electron microscope? I admire your set of peepers Sir!
Notch in lower right.
I'm sure that with a little tilting these can be seen in hand.

I'm sorry you need to see things at an atomic level. Because if you can't see the difference now, between the two, a visit to the Dr may be in order.

<< <i>This is a very obvious doubled die. Electron microscope? Really?? >>
That's what I'm saying
If you were going through a roll it would easily stand out from other coins.
There are circulated examples being sold, but no mint examples. Any ideas as to why so few would be offered in MS state?
It also received a story in CW

<< <i>I know, but they just don't make dies like they did in '55 anymore >>
What makes the early double dies exciting is they are bold and obvious and not that they are technical anything. The single squeeze die distortions to the most part may build up a technical/specialist following but it is unlikely they will attract mainstream appeal like the 55 or others because of their lack of visual punch. Collectors of all kinds want a 55 DDO and respect it, not many people even Lincoln collectors care about those. Sorry
If they don't make them like that anymore, there doesn't have to be something that takes their place.
