Suggestion for PCGS

Many people buy PCGS coins for the purpose of their registry set collections. To me and some others with registry's, a coin that has been truviewed is always more desirable than one that isn't.
It would be helpful if there was a symbol or mark on a slab that would show if the coin has a truview image. Its very hard and not often practical to do a cert check for every coin. I think it would add a little value to the coin.

True...but a reason to make them consider resubmitting for reholdering...

Lets say PCGS settled on an icon of a camera at the end of a cert number to denote a trueviewed coin. That would be an easy and self explanatory way to label it....well if I had trueviewed coins in older holders, I could easily buy little stickers of a camera to put on the slab that would accomplish the same thing, showing customers that the coin is trueviewed.

I would rather see a home made photo when buying a coin anyway, so I know what it really looks like. No value to me on this one.
Can you not take pics yourself?
Is it for the camera challenged only?
What the heck do they send you. A color or black and white glossy?
An image on a CD?
Since PCGS took the pic they own the publication rights, what can you do with it?
Is permission to use it automatic?
Obviously I've not used True View as of yet.

<< <i>Who "owns" the truview? I'd not be thrilled having my image "lifted" just because someone seen the slab. >>
PCGS owns the copyright to the TrueView and can do as they please, as with many photography services. PCGS licenses the TrueView purchaser some limited rights.
What do you mean by "lifted?" PCGS does not allow anyone (including the purchaser) to post a photo aggregation website so that form of lifting is already denied.

Supposedly to get an idea of what the coin truly looks like.

They photograph the coin out of the slab, so there is definitely value in it.

I'd say for some coins, there's a hard dollar return, and possibly a significant one. Some venues such as Legend Morphy and CRO use TrueViews in their coin listings and the photos can create more interest / demand for coins than other photography services, possibly resulting in higher bids. I'm guessing someone could do a ROI analysis using realized prices from venues that use TrueViews. I also don't think these venues would accept just any photo someone happened to take.
For the same coins, the converse is also true. Not having a TrueView may reduce the price you get when the coins are sold, especially in certain venues that don't allow arbitrary photography services.
Having a icon on the insert can help increase interest in and prices of coins where the insert is present but not the TrueView, such as Heritage and others.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Sure, some True Views are a bit off in appearance (color saturation) but most are spot-on and all show terrific detail.
I'm surprised PCGS didn't think of this long ago.
