US Mint 2013 Uncirculated Dollar Set

As pointed out in yesterdays Mint News Blog email, Dollar Set "Tomorrow, November 13, 2013 at 12:00 Noon ET, the United States Mint will begin sales of the 2013 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set. This product has previously been offered in 2007, 2008, and 2012."
So this isn't what might be called a yearly set, even though the Mint has labeled it an Annual Set, but maybe as a repackaging or marketing set.

"Interestingly, this set is priced only $1 higher than the individual 2013-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle, which still remains on sale at $43.95 per coin." The price is right. Well, not really unless you consider double the spot price of silver reasonable.
I did purchase through subscription one of the Uncirculated 2013 Silver Eagles so I can't argue to strongly about the price. But this "Bean Counter" repackaging to generate sales doesn't sit well.

Your thoughts? Will you or have you purchased one of these?

I guess this set is a total non-starter.

Though it will probably sell out over time as it is scheduled to continue on sale for up to 1 year from release. Just not to members here.

This is a good example of another unneeded product from the US Mint.

Unneeded or not, a 2012 Annual Dollar set sold last week for almost $85, so, don't be TOO quick to diss it yet.
    I'll come up with something.

I bought the 07' and 08' but basically lost interest in them when they started back up in 2012.

Would be much more interesting if instead of just re-packaging existing products they would strike these sets with new dies that had possible unique markers.

To me, the mint needs to either keep products going, year over year, or else make them 1-offs. Not do crap inbetween.

In the case of something like this, they are just repackaging existing stuff, that isn't unique anyway, and doing it whenever they feel like it. No seeming rhyme nor reason.

If I needed it for a gift, because I was going for the unc SAE anyway, and the price is almost the same, I may get it...for a YN to encourage them. At the same time, I would find myself hesitant for that purpose as I wouldn't want them going down that path if they thought that was the way to go.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Actually, in the 2008 release, there were some Missing Edge lettering Monroe Dollars which fetched some serious money!

As for this being an "unneeded product"? I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinions as I don't happen to agree.

There has NEVER been a case where the 2008-W Rev of 2007 has been found in the 2008 Annual Dollar Coin Set.

BUT, there have been those MEL Monroe's.

AND, given the price of the 2013 Set ($44.95) and the relative cost of the 2013-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle ($43.95) its almost like getting 4 Dollar Coins for free from the Mint.
