A 1972 cello with Staubach on the front AND the back? Assuming this is legit (big assumption) I am surprised none of you unopened animals have grabbed it. Seems like a pretty reasonable price on a one of a kind item

That's his cover for making the packs. He also claims that he never sells his creations. The ones he gets past Steve and PSA always end up on eBay.

He has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way but has actually helped the hobby, imo. I don't believe the pack is bad, if he is selling it, and don't think he will scam anyone. Has he made fraudulent packs? No doubt he has. And he did it to raise awareness, which he has done. I know that very recently he has been working WITH law enforcement on the topic of unopened material. That is another reason I highly doubt he will screw anyone. He is being watched under a microscope and knows it. But, of course, everyone can think what they want to.

That being said, if this pack he is selling is bad (and I don't know packs whatsoever, nor do I collect football) maybe he is making a point and won't follow through with a scam of a sale? PSA shouldn't get a pass at all here. I don't care if this is their board or not, they need to clean up a good bit of their act. They need to take some ownership of the wrongs they do when grading. Grading trimmed cards, resealed packs, giving what appears to be to most higher grades to higher volume subbers. On and on. Own it, don't run and hide from it if you're truly #1 in the hobby when it comes to grading. Make the hobby better, not worse.

Leon, do you know the whole story? How long it took place? How many packs were faked? Do you have the Cert numbers? Do you know all the Ebay accts? Buying and selling? Do you know if a card was bought on Ebay, then that exact card showed up in a slabbed pack? Do you have those Ebay listing numbers. Do you think it was only PSA? What about raw packs Leon? Think he screwed anyone on these boards? Think he screwed anyone on yours? Think he worked the system all on his own. What about having others sell packs? What about Auction Houses?

Once you can answer most or even some of these questions, then I would post about the topic. If a few posts on your board and a 45 minute phone call is all you need so be it.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Don't need to pretend. I've seen the mountain of evidence a board member collected. Jose bought cards with obvious/unique stains with his ebay account. That card NOW sits on top of a cello pack in a PSA holder.
Some of us have seen the proof.

Jose, made packs, got them through PSA and sold them.

Just hope I don't get banned for telling the truth but everybody should know.

Hopefully if he is committing fraud he will get busted. I don't know the answers to any of the questions I was asked above. Honestly, I don't care about packs that much and have never bid on or owned one, tracked any or cared about any, nor do I see me starting to. I really don't have a lot more to say except maybe everything he told me was a lie? It's the only time I have ever spoken with him. If he defrauded people in the past. or present, then he should be held accountable just like anyone else.

I don't have any dog in this fight. With that said, I'm not even sure how a cello pack can be resealed. That would seem to be an even tougher feat to pull off than wax. Is that a feat that could be pulled off and pass Steve?

The problem here is that no one does. If you have all of this information, why wouldn't you post it? I can understand not posting it on CU but I sincerely doubt Leon would stop you from posting it on N54. Because as it stands right now, I hear a lot of talk about definitive proof yet when asked to see it no one has all the details.

I've asked this question before and haven't gotten an answer. If I were to make an educated guess, I imagine that wax is tougher to reseal because of the roller marks and wax seal. Those provide something akin to a fingerprint, where cellos don't have any of that.

I have a feeling that there are a lot of people on this board who know a lot more than they are willing to say for fear of getting banned. Sometimes it can also be interesting to look at who isn't posting in a thread.

Steve is great but no one is perfect.
My advice, do not buy any star on top cellos even if they are in PSA holders unless you are absolutely certain of the providence. The cello pack creator was at it for a very long time. It is akin to the "extra mini" 75 mini debacle and WIWAG.

Yikes. I'm the one that bought that. I have since sold it through PWCC and actually made a profit but would not have had I known it was fake.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but all this is exactly why I got out of unopened. I don't blame Steve. It's impossible when you're a one man show. They get more and more sophisticated with these resealed packs and harder and harder to find. I was buying Cellos with stars on top left and right, as long as they were PSA graded. I kind of assume it was 100% legit if the mighty PSA checked off on it...then I slowly learned that a lot were getting through PSA. Too discouraging...I bailed out.

Again, no slight on Steve or PSA, but very sad for the hobby as a whole. I can't believe I bought that Bradshaw cello off that cheat....

So one time, I robbed a bank. On the way out, they caught me. It was ok though, because all I was really doing was testing the bank's security system to prove to them it was inadequate...

On a serious note, lets for the sake of argument say that this guys story isn't a load of bull.

You would create a public record of what you were doing BEFORE you did it.
You would document that it went through
You would then quietly let them know, hey, there is something you should know
You would PUBLICLY destroy said pack when done

That is exactly what went down right? Right? Crickets?

The holier than though crusader thing after you get caught doesn't fly. Sorry.
