I am not a fan of most Modern Stuff that is getting churned out these days but that seems neat. I'm not even a fan of baseball really but that is at least different.

Cool! I'm going to pick up a couple $5 gold coins, LOL..

Well that is certainly different..... not a baseball fan (or any ball sport), but might consider the $1 dollar coin just as a curio.... depends on what outlandish price they attach.... Cheers, RickO
The "gimmick" coins the US Mint makes pale in comparison with many World Mints. I DO think though that the 'return' of incuse is just around the corner

How long before we start getting colorized coins from the US Mint?

<< <i>I am torn between thinking that this is really cool and thinking it is a silly gimmick. >>
Well, IMO, it's a silly gimmick.
If the US Mint really wanted to produce a quality product then they would stop producing low relief, artificially frosted proof coins and start producing high relief mirrored proofs and collector coins.
I'm thinking that until they do, then we're all just being spoon fed US Mint "gimmicks".
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

what do you mean? i thought us coins today are top quality, and are real DCAMS. i dont understand how one is artifical and one isn';t..
<< <i>What's next, colorized coins with bare-breasted mermaids? >>
Actually there may be demand for such a coin if it were struck in ultra high relief.

Good choices. I like the baseball and glove designs.
do not damage these capsules opening them.
they likely will be custom thickness, and those 69's will need a home if someone wants to play crackou later.
On these newer generation mint capsules, I've found a pair of thin bladed tweezers can open them.

Im holding out for a cubed coin.
I think it's a great design that by some freak chance made it to the final choice. The curved concept is refreshing too.

The same reason they supported the Cincinnati Music Center and the Boy Scouts.
Not that I know what that reason is.

The US Mint has become the Franklin Mint of old. It is following the path of the USPS.
That being said.... will I be purchasing one? Honestly don't know; perhaps.
My guess is cool. Cooler than the boy scouts and girl scouts issues.
Maybe the mint could cross promote with MLB for the start of spring season or opening day.

There will be 1. There has to be 1. Quality control better not let that 1 get out into my hands or I'll be a happy happy man.
