newP Proof

Here is my new 1936 Proof Washington Quarter. I don't have it in hand yet but I hope it looks as good as the photos. It is graded by PCGS as PR64 with a CAC green sticker

Nice pick up.

<< <i>looks nice in the pictures but the low grade suggests a coin that is probably dark/dull and has some hairlines that the seller hid with the lighting. >>
I suspect the exact opposite, namely that much of the toning will be barely perceptible to the naked eye.

I disagree: I think the shallow mirrors limit the grade and the 64 is a net from 66 level contact marks. Even with weak mirrors i suspect it is fully brilliant and an attractive coin. JA loves to sticker attractive (ya but) coins that speak of a higher grade save for a secondary or tertiary grade limiting factor. I think that is what we have here
I think the pics are overlit/exposed, and that the toning is darker but that it isn't going to be much of a distraction.
JA doesn't like to sticker ugly coins, so you should like it.
I doubt the seller purposely tried to hide anything as his technique may be just too harsh with the lighting.
Overall, as long as you don't expect a rainbow, I think you will like it.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Well I got the coin today and this poster was very accurate in the description of the coin. The toning is barely visible, but the coin overall has a golden hue to it, with the rim of the coin slightly toned. I really like the coin and have been looking for one I could afford that was on the high end of the grade. The coin is very clear and has no haze. There are very few hairlines on the coin also. I can not take a good photo to save my life or I would post a photo.
I also bought a 1952 Quarter in MS-64, which is a lower grade than what I was targeting for, but the photo of the coin looked really nice. I took a flyer on it because I liked the photo and when I got it in hand I was really amazed at how nice it looks. I think this coin may be the best looking coin in my registry set. The photo of all my coins can be seen here
