The gold stuff is GOLD. Yes, it was plated. Why, who knows.

Love the counterstamp and it's in a good place that does not ruin the coin!

Looks like engraving rather than counterstamping. Nice novelty piece.

  • with the coin in hand using a loop tou can see the edges of the chisel that was used to make the letters. I like the coin and my 16yo boy actually found in in a mess of things he is autistic and we go rummaging together on the weekends, its our thing and we love it.

Have you found any other neat stuff when out rummaging together? Heck, its the outings I love - the finds are just cream on top!

Neat find... a keeper for sure. I go each Saturday to yard sales with my Mother... she loves the sales and the 'together' time.... Cheers, RickO

The counterstamp does detract from the coin IMO but still an excellent buy for a buck! Nice pick

  • Autism is such an individual thing and when you find something that clicks it is very important to embrace it. My son has the high functioning form very intelligent but lacks social skills and seems OCD. He loves to dig through peoples stuff. We have found many coins real and fake along with other vintage items that we resell. He makes me buy the fake coins also but he keeps them in a book so he can look at them and compare them to the real coins. He also told me I should buy them so others will not buy them thinking they are real. In a way it is very funny the way he so seriously stated that. I have 4 boys and love them dearly. They are all special in their own way lol...... image

He's not the first here to buy counterfeits at counterfeit prices to take them off the market.

You may consider buying a "COPY" punch to deface them for future generations.

Fun stuff! I like the coin. Probably gold plated and engraved back in the day for a gift or pocketpiece. My wife and I go to garage sales and estate sales a lot of Saturday mornings.
