Does the Holmes' Reeded Edge Cent bring $1M again?

This is the most complete set of large cents I've ever heard of. I don't see anything missing.

i thought dan holmes had everything except the S.L. that was in a museum that he got on loan for the viewing so ppl could see an entire set of earlies in one place?
per bob grellman in this and also the auction results would confirm this info.

It might not be posted yet, but it was in this collection and should be a part of the sale.

I think there may be some NC's missing from the Mervis collection. The Holmes collection should still be the most complete set ever - just missing the 1793 NC-5 that's in ANS.
And, IMO, the Holmes set was just a better put together, more impressive collection overall than Mervis. Nevertheless, this is a super important sale coming up. The Large Cent market seems to have been dead with everyone waiting to see what will happen in January.

The Mervis collection has some high grade early pieces, but in general many more mid-grade examples that persons of more ordinary means might hope to acquire than the Holmes set. One example: The Holmes S-1, a beautiful PCGS AU58 sold for $368K. The mervis example, in PCGS XF40, I am sure will bring strong money but not nearly as much.
$5M worth of large cents? Meh.
Wonder why he is selling? I think that he will be lucky to break even.

For reasons unrelated to coins and unrelated to coin markets, I have learned.

I have not yet seen the listing of the Mervis Collection coins. Is it certain that it is more complete than the Holmes Collection? Has Rays compared the two?

I am almost certain that it is part of the Mervis Collection. I analyzed the Holmes sale for CoinLink.com and for Numismatic News (Krause). Greg Hannigan was the successful bidder, on behalf of Mervis, in 2009. This 1795 RE (S-79) was on display at the ANA Convention in Illinois at the Heritage table.
