Considering that a chitload of them are probably modern crap and bullion, it's hard to imagine how one could consider every coin they looked at as being a reject from CAC or a TPG. The TPGs and CAC haven't even put a dent in the pile of coins that are out there.

This shows that there are 1,000,599 70 PCGS coins. >>
So let's see. Looking at the Population Totals page, there are 16,934,637 total coins in the population. I think this is US only, and not counting any of the bodybags/details coins.
Of that total population, there are 5,125,972 69's, and 1,000,599 70's. That is, indeed, a chitload of modern crap and bullion. That means that one out of every 17 coins they grade is a 70! Even more astounding, 36% of the total population is either a 69 or a 70! Almost 1 in 4 coins they have graded. I feel very, very sorry for the graders. Additionally, it's AMAZING to me that there is ANY premium on a 70 graded modern piece, let alone a 69 grade. If you are chasing these things, and paying a premium for them, you may want to rethink your collecting strategy.
they report that Modern revenue gets them about half their coin revenue. So figure, using round numbers, 13M Modern coins submitted and 14M Vintage coins submitted. I doubt Modern coins get submitted more than once. So the question is how many of the Vintage coins have been submitted more than once? Half, or 7M, seems high. Others know more than me on this I am sure.
If I had to guess, PCGS has seen more than 20M unique coins in their existence.
I think PCGS should have a giveaway at 30 million coins...a gold Buffalo would be nice... and second, third and fourth would be the descending denominations...... Cheers, RickO
