Delivery confirmation on ebay
Twice now, I have had buyers I have shipped coins to ask me about delivery confirmation numbers. This happened both times AFTER the package was delivered by more than 24 hours. Thus, I believe they had already gotten the package. I did not hear from the buyer again. I always ship with confirmation when orders are over $25.00. I was wondering, are these people checking to see if I had delivery confirmation, and if I did not, they were going to file a non delivery claim with ebay? What dollar order do you sellers put delivery confirmation on?

If you take your package to the USPS, then tracking is automatic and is printed on your receipt.
I mailed two items this week at the USPS and did not pay for tracking, yet, the items still have tracking numbers and show them as delivered.

Del. Conf <$250 required
Sig. Conf >=$250 required
so, no matter the price, some number is required to be provided.
It has become commonplace to send the DC/SC number to the buyer ASAP on eBay & even better to enter the number in ebay's system. On the list of items you sold will be a "enter tracking number" thing to select. just put in the number, and the service: USPS, UPS, FEDEX
<< <i>I would appreciate any feedback on this. I am curious if any of you had experienced buyers are trying to take advantage of ebay policy. >>
I had a buyer a couple of years ago whose last 100 feedbacks left included 20 or so claiming non-delivery. Either the unluckiest buyer on eBay or a crook- you decide.
This is the only time it has happened to me in my 400+ EBAY purchases. The weird thing is I received like 4 packages that day.

You may want to contact your PO and see if it is SOP to just scan them as delivered when they reach your PO. There have been discussions here in the past about carriers who scan all packages as delivered before they start their route. Or have a firm chat with your carrier.
Printing labels through paypal not only gets you free del. confirmation, it automatically posts the tracking number in both paypal and ebay where buyer and seller can click on it for updates.

<< <i>ebay/paypal put the dollar limit at .01 when it comes to requiring delivery confirmation if you want their seller protection.

I wondered if they planned to file a claim with eBay/PayPal if I hadn't bought delivery confirmation.
I'll never know for sure.
the folks on this forum and probably elsewhere. Perhaps you are not printing labels on your printer?
If not, why not? Cheaper, easier, and certainly safer.
As for cheaters, yes they do exist. The Postal carrier may be scanning as he loads his truck but before
it's delivered and thus it shows delivered but is actually on it's way to the door.
My carrier loads his truck the night before (it's locked in a compound with 24/7 security). That way he
gets a good head start the next day. Just say'n that it may not be crooks, either.

<< <i>I find that maybe a 1/4 of the time that the tracking is worthless and often the package shows up before it shows it delivered, or shows it delivered and it is still floating around. This morning I received some car parts that had tracking, the tracking shows they are still floating around in postal valhalla somewhere - but the parts are already installed on my car. >>
That's because there is a lag time with the PO reporting the status. As long as the dc indicates delivers, who gives a darn, if the reporting status is a few hours late in getting reported?
For items over $200 I include the pink signature confirmation form.
Bay sales have been very slow the last several months except for items under $100. I did do a few over $100 but they were let go at CDN Ask (wholesale). I don't believe they have any money. Years ago I used to set up at shows held at a mall in Houston called Greenspoint (or Gunspoint as people called it). I remember doing shows there and seeing tons of people walking in who obviously did not have any money as they were not asking prices on coins. Well they did not come to buy, but a lot of them came to steal. A dealer next to me had a $200 coin stolen right out from under him and he even had glass display cases like myself.
When your in a selling environment where the people coming in the door don't have any money, take special care in not getting ripped. If they ask to see a stack of slabbed coins say at a show - show it to them one coin at a time and keep a tally sheet. Keep the other coins locked up in your case. If the guy is for real and a solid retail buyer and buys some coins then just keep on showing him more but take your time and don't move faster than your comfy with or you could give away something. Be able to quickly quote a price. I will show them the coin, let them look at it and quote a price "$89, any interest?" If not then I put the coin back in the case and move on. If its a maybe (usually his funds are tight) I will put it to the side in a stack and he can pick what he wants from those. If they try to haggle I may cut them some slack if its a reasonable number and I am still making a decent margin. On the tally sheet I will list the selling price of the coin along with my cost code for it so I know what I am making on the deal at any given time. I once had a guy I sold 11 coins to in this manner. Remember, your in control not them.
<< <i>I have had the same thing happen to me. I supplied the buyer with the delivery confirmation information (number and USPS delivery details) and never heard from them again.

Doesn't the buyer have access to the same DC when he signs into his eBay account? I know I do when I buy stuff on the Bay.

I don't care if it is there but not showing tracking - but when it shows it is there it is a problem for me - I live out in the sticks and only check the PO occasionally unless I know something is going to be there.
That's why when I was actually selling on EBAY, I avoided international buyers in all circumstances.
