  • I opened this thread expecting to see a typo on a PCGS slab label.

Instead -- oh wow. Super cool coin!

This coin was discussed in another thread a couple of days ago. Very nice specimen of a really scarce off-metal type!

I love how it looks. Maybe the Mint should consider an offset design like that.

It's the last year of the design, and the cent blank happened to be ideally located within the larger half dollar dies..

then it makes it out of the mint, and into the hands of collectors.. is the provenance known? Is it unique or are there others?

Wonderful coin to be sure, and does it matter if it is intentional or not?

are indian cents on gold 2 1/2 blanks, or Sac-state quarter mules, or the Wisconsin extra leaf coins accidental?

for that matter, toning, does it matter if it's accidental or intentional as long as the end result is coool?

It would be cool to see a struck 1963 cent on a Franklin planchet.

There's a off center 18-S SLQ in a MS63FH holder even though it's missing the top of the head...

So FBL on the slab label is a minor fix imageimage

Perfectly positioned on the cent planchet for maximum aesthetic effect. Great coin!

That is a very neat coin.
  • Nice error. I think the off metals are cool. I bought an off metal quarter in hopes of completing a run of nickels quarters and halves. I should have check prices on everything but the Jefferson nickel and Washington quarter. Oh well. Here is the 25c

Thanks for the PIC. I saw it in the back of one of the JUDD Pattern books.
