Any premium on this GSA Morgan

3stars3stars Posts: 2,296 ✭✭✭✭✭
My local dealer is selling this 1885CC VAM 2 Morgan with a huge strike through on the cheek (looks like fibers) in the original GSA holder. Is the strike trough a plus or a distraction, and does it hold any premium?

very far from a plus for me, so I would say the opposite of a premium

No premium and a big distraction on this dollar.

With the value of the dollar in a normal state at a high price, I would venture to guess this "strike thru" is more of a negative. At least for me, it is. I would not pay a premium for it.

Really though, the picture is not great. I cannot tell if it is a strike thru or a scrape.

I would think this would not bring a premium (at least for me it wouldn't). I'd pass on it altogether unless it was less than half price or something I could sell and buy a nicer one. 'tiz just not me.

I would pay less for the because of that. When I was a dealer I would have avoided buying this piece.

Another example of a 'White Elephant' error coin.

The coins' value FAR exceeds the value of a common
    struck thru.

On a $30 coin, it might bring a premium.

    On this coin, no way.........

Thanks Fred- doesn't get more definitive than that from an expert in the field.
