Sept 21, 2013: 3 Silvers, 2 IHCs, and I'm now a deputy...!!

...courtesy of Roy Rogers!!

Got out on Saturday to a couple new places. First place had super deep clad. Talk about Lincoln memorials at 6 or 7 inches. It was slow, but had a more shallow quarter later in the hunt...one of the more shallow coins. Turned out to be a 1939 quarter. Go figure! Also got a Roy Rogers Deputy badge! It still has the pin connected on back (rusted of course). 2nd place yielded an older button but that's it. Feeling a bit worn down I tried spot #3...nothing more than pull tabs and zincolns. Spot 4 was on the way home, so I wanted to check that out. Found quite a few silvers at spot 4 last year and even 5 earlier this year. Figured there couldn't be anything left... guess I was wrong.

Ended with 2 Mercs (1939, 1917)
2 IHCS - 1907, 1897 (could have sworn there was a third one, but after washing only two remained. Was probably an 1877)
18 wheat cents! 1938 (looks like someone had fun with a punch as there are letters in it), 1944, 1941, 1956-D, 1946, 1913, 1944, 1919, 1918, dateless, 1909 (didn't see an S), 1945, 1952, 1945, 1945, 1918, 1938 and...

what looks to be my first 1943 cent! How can I tell? Well I can't, so I think that's a good sign! I got a wheat in the hole, stuck the probe in and got another target. Upon getting it out the detector nulled but it's the same size as a cent. I'm calling it 1943!

This end was kind of reminiscent of last year's hunts, so it was nice to get back into it. Didn't feel worn down after this place, even after a total of 8.5 hours of detecting! 146 coins found - $7.54.

HH all!

Haha, still awaiting orders from good ol' Roy! He seems a bit slow to respond these days!

Thanks everyone! Even tho it's a rusted blob that 1943 cent is still exciting for some reason. Is it even worth a soak in ACV! Probably nothing left of the coin at this point... Just rust.
