Why would anyone bid so many thousands on an account that has so little feedback and hasn't sold anything for three years? Also, got to love the story of buying a $5 record with a $1,000 comic book inside it that then had a $20,000 coin inside of that (and that coin already being in a slab...). Finally, "no returns, sold as is!" Hah, this stinks like a scam from a thousand miles away.
Here is a piece of advice you can take to the bank. If the pictures are shot at any angle other than 90 degrees, PASS. All the scammers seem to shot "oval shaped" coins when they post pictures to distort the details.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Reported that one as soon as it popped up yesterday. There have been so many of these lately I don't even bring them up here. Whenever there are images from past auctions available, I provide the links in the description to Ebay. Judith usually pulls them pretty quickly. It should be gone soon. What is interesting of late is that she has mentioned a couple times that the account appeared to be hijacked. I don't understand why a crook would hijack an account and display a fake coin. If you're just going to take the money and run, why not display a REAL coin???
