    I vote Sweet! I agree with the 35 assessment, although I wouldn't fall over if I saw it in a 30 or 40 holder. Yummy!!!

    I was wondering if this wouldn't qualify as a 109...not sure because this coin has a good amount of milling, but also the die defects mentioned for the 109a.

    My first impression was XF45 with your typical weak areas, but I think XF40 has probably got it.

    I voted VF-35, but it would not surprise me if it made EF-40. To me it is near miss for the 40 grade because of overly crusty surfaces.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    PCGS graded it VF35. I thought the coin would grade a 40, but what do I know! image Any other opinions on this being an O-109 as opposed to the 109a? I'm not really sure where the line is drawn regarding the milling.

    Bill Jones nailed it...too crusty for 40. Not that that's a problem !
    My take on the Die State is that the 109 has no defects under the wing, your coin may be intermediate, before the more serious lapping took place.
    There was a thread about this variety some time ago I think.

    One of those coins that could be a 35 one day, and a 40 the next. Nice Barn Find!
