I got one also, establishing an account with a new user nsame and password. I already have an account under a different user name and password, so I don't know why they are doing this.

I got it too... and I have no idea why, other than I bought a coin in their last auction for the first time in years.
    When in doubt, don't.

I agree. I bought 4 coins in the last auction and I have not received the email. It smells of someone hacking into their accounts and phishing, especially if the email is vague about the reason it is being sent. Can someone post the text of the email (without divulging and personal info)??

I got one as well....thought it was odd.

Yep....was going to create a thread asking the same.

Either TT or SB has had a database jacked and these are spam from that or something else is going on.

If anyone has contacted them and heard back, would love to hear it in a thread update....

I got one this morning also.
  • I just got the same email. Could it possibly be just the new info for when TT switches to Stacks weekly auctions?

I received one, I already have log in info and my first thought was they were hacked or something.

I had thought that as well, but if that is it (and it likely is), then whoever is writing the email script that goes out needs to do a much better job and communicate such.
The way it is written, no one has a real clue to it and in today's day and age of email scams and hacks, someone should know better than to send emails unsolicited that talk of accounts and passwords and not describe the background for them.

I have had a Stack'sBowers account for some time, but today I got the same email as shown above saying I had a new account, and a new account with new member name and password. Someone at Stack'sBowers messed up on this one.

I just received an email from a Nigerian banker who informed me that I'm named to get about $1.6 million dollars, so I will be bidding like the sky's the limit in the upcoming Stack's Bowers sale.

    My bad. Wrong Auction Firm.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I noticed it as well today. I happened to visit their website last nite, so maybe that's why.

I've been a customer of both Stacks and Bowers for 40 years. When I got this email this morning, my response was.... I smiled.

But the language was surely clumsy.

    How about

"We've totally replaced our old website. The new one will be a giant step for our company in serving our many valued customers.

For your convenience, we've set up an account for you on the new system. Your new username iIt will replace any previous account you've had, but with a few tedious minutes of entering your profile, you'll find a greatly more useful tool than we've ever been able to offer before".

Revamping bidding protocols and services and replacing a horrid archive retrieval mechanism were in the works before Chris Napolitano had his email address assigned. A couple of sales from now they'll have the system pretty well debugged.

    New complaints will emergeimage

edited to add: when I started my post I hadn't seen that of Brian's. An honest if clumsy mistake corrected in a day that shows concern for the sensibilities of those who received confusing info.

Leaving nothing in my post relevant but the bit about the new system being a big step forward.

I get regular emails from Stacks at three of my email addresses. I didn't get anything from Stacks today. Go figure.
