Cracked slabs on eBay
I can't remember if I originally saw this here or on another thread...either way, I can't seem to find thread so I'm reposting.
My question on this is....is this legal? If so, shouldn't eBay remove it?

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
The right thing to do: Call PSA, SGC and tell them you've got empty holders, cards have been cracked out. . Then you destroy the cracked cases, providing proof to PSA/SGC. You ask them to delete the serial numbers from their pop reports. If they offer something, fine, accept it. If they simply say "thank you for your due diligence in destroying the cases" but offer nothing, you still walk away knowing you have done the right thing. Seems pretty simple.
To me, that's the right thing to do.
1) show how kind he is
2) call everyone else a d-bag for coming after him

<< <i>I posted this on the PSA SET REGISTRY forum. I reported the auction and nothing happened. According to eBay's rules, auctions cannot facilitate illegal activity which is what this auction is doing.

Thanks Mario...I thought it was there...couldn't find thread.
Does anyone know if this ahole is on CU?
Btw, this is the second time we've heard someone play the special needs card on the forums in a month? The other one I believe was regarding an obvious shill bidder.
<< <i>I dont think the scam starts with buying a bunch of junk cracked slabs. I think the guys doing this would rather buy a legit Graded Mantle Rookie(or any high dollar card/product) and then carefuly crack the slab removing the legit Mantle. And then replace it with a trimmed or fake Mantle in its place. I dont think they are just looking on ebay for junk slabs but more a buyer of lefit product. Then they do their scam. Also there are plenty of .99 PSA auctions that go for just that price. You can probably find free sh on some as well. I doubt this is what the scammers are looking for. >>
That's a good point.
I thought at some point I saw here though that there are people making fake slabs. Perhaps this would interest them?

I agree that the real scammers may not be interested as it would be easily traced back to them particularly if the seller leaves them feedback. But it is more likely an amateur who thinks they stumbled onto their next great idea.
That said, the bigger issues to me are:
The integrity of the registry from crack outs. How many cards are cracked re-subbed, cracked re-subbed, or cracked and put into binders raw? In such a small market of buyers, a pop 5 is much different than a pop 8 or 10.
And more importantly, why is it possible to re-use a PSA slab that's been cracked open. Isn't one of the major PSA selling points that there slabs are tamper proof? If they are (never cracked one, don't know enough about them) then this is a non issue. Based on the responses on this thread it seems to me that these slabs can be re-used and passed as authentic.

I'm not sure the slabs are as much the issue as it is the headers with legit sn's
They did this a while back when some dude tried to sell a stack of cracked out PSA labels.
