I was thinking of trying to improve the appearance of this coin. Would soaking in olive oil a month or 2 help ?
What would you suggest ? The coin is silver.

    Acetone. Oil is for copper. But isn't it slabbed already?

    Yes it is in a NGC ms64 holder. I would send it in raw with other NGC coins
    I plan to crack out as I prefer consistency in the holders and many seem to
    feel if you send it in as a crossover pcgs may grade it stricter.
    I feel if it is graded 64 based on strike etc...improving appearance would
    be nice.

    Olive oil will have no adverse effects for either copper of bronze. A rinse or two afterwards in separate fresh acetone baths is all that would be required.

    I've given up on recommending the use of a ultrasonic. Or have I?

    the ultrasonic does work, but it what is in the ultrasonic used for cleaning that is important.
    Start from the bottom with like distilled water.

    I didn't realize PCGS offers this service for $25 whether they choose to
    restore it or not. It is only a $150 coin but high grade examples are hard
    to come by. PCGS/NGC combined has 10 in 64 and 7 finer. I just want a
    high grade attractive coin for my collection in a holder that match the rest
    of the set.

    I can agree with that. I've simply found acetone more effective in all cases. That mintmark that fell off notwithstandingimage

    Please just sell this coin and buy one you like.

    If you bought this hoping to improve it, you will only hurt it by cracking it out and destroying the original patina of the coin you posted

    The more I think about the more I agree. There is a finite number of high grade
    original coins out there and to risk ruining one just to serve my own impatience
    would be wrong. If I do pick up this coin I will keep it as is or perhaps only cross
    it into PCGS to match the rest of the set.

    Agree, it's nice the way it is and I don't see anything about it that acetone or oil will improve.

    The appearance (could be just the photograph) indicated more dirt/crud than tarnish... I would still recommend an acetone soak.... If tarnish, it will not be affected by acetone. Cheers, RickO
