They don't call her 'Charmy' just as a whim. Cory seems to be the toughest negotiator next to the old man. Chumlee is the push over...do they even have new episodes? I kinda got burned out and don't watch anymore. The coins sales were always interesting.
Once in a great while I see what could be a new episode. Or maybe it's a rerun I never saw before. I have yet to see the episode with Charmy on the air. But there is a local dealer here who has been on. He found a rare 1864 Lincoln Inaugural medal in a box lot of foreign coins. Rick offered him $400. The dealer refused. The medal is now in an ANACS holder and is attributed. I looked at the medal 2 weeks ago at his shop in East Douglas, MA. he wants $3,000.

I recall an episode a year ago where Chum was buying gold at $9 a gram.
I’ve never seen anyone post about the ‘friend who is an expert’ part of the show, so here it goes:
You know when Rick looks at a gun/car/autograph etc, isn’t quite sure if the item is legit, and needs to ‘call a friend who is an expert’?
Well – the dirty little 'secret' is that those 'friends' pay to be there.
I was talking to one of the ‘experts’ at their store when I was in Vegas this March. He gave me the story, said he paid to be on there four or five times now (I’ve only seen one episode where he was on as an expert).
Not that I was surprised. Most all TV, Radio, and ‘news’ is paid promotions = Somebody Selling Something.
CU has an expert for sports memorabilia autographs on the show now, too.

Yes, I started a thread back in February 2012 when I knew I was going to film an episode of Pawn Stars. My episode then aired last June and has re-aired several times since then. FYI, the actual negotiation part is completely LEGIT. The filming, including the "interview" outside lasted about an hour, so they did cut out quite a bit.
In particular, my negotiations with Corey was much more lengthy but they shortened it to look like it was just a couple minutes. (During the negotiation, the producer would stop the filming, and give factual information about the camera, WWII, etc. to Corey to talk about.)
I had done my research on the camera, including getting opinions from members here on the boards about the value of the camera before I went on the show. So I already knew that the camera by itself was worth about $150 (I had paid about $40 20 years ago when I found the camera at a garage sale). But with the original undeveloped film inside in pristine shape (and the possibility there could still be images on the lower layers of the unexposed parts of the rolled film), along with the original case, I knew it was worth double that. So when I originally sent my email to Pawn Stars (per the instructions on their website) with photos of my camera, $300 is exactly what I told them I thought my camera was worth.
When we started the negotiations, I began at $500, Corey offered $200, then he went up slightly, I came down slightly to $475, and it went back an forth from there for quite a while, with me explaining that the film was what made the camera valuable, Corey unconvincingly stating that camera buffs wouldn't be interested in my camera because it was too big, etc., then Corey stayed stuck on $250 and I was still around $400.
By then, Corey was getting a little snippy and I could tell he was exacerbated and just wanted this to be over, so here is an exchange between us that didn't make the final airing:
Charmy: "I'll tell you what, Corey, if you give me $300, then you'll never have to see me again." Corey: (sneering) "That would be worth it!" Producer: "Cut!" (pointing to Corey) "Corey, you need to be nicer!" "Corey, Do that part again this time nicer. Roll"
So then I said I'd take $300, Corey simply agreed and we shook hands, which is what actually aired.
Then during the parking lot "interview" (they film both the "pre-show" and "after-show" interview at the same time following the negotiations), the assistant producer asks questions, but asked me to phrase the answer in a statement so it looked like I was just having a conversation, rather than a response to a question.
She mentioned to me that it looked like I was being pretty tough with Corey during the negotiation, and asked if I thought Corey knew I was a coin dealer. Here's my initial "response":
Charmy: "I was tough with Corey during the negotiation but I doubt he knew he was dealing with a coin dealer." Producer: "Can you say that again, this time with a little 'attitude'?" Charmy: (hand on hip, head slightly tilted, bit of an attitude). "Yeah, I gave Corey a hard time during the negotiation because he didn't know who he was dealing with!"
Makes me wonder how many other people have been on the show that I might know who they are, if only I were interested in their line of work. I don't think the average person watching the show would recognize Charmy, but a lot of coin collectors watching might recognize her instantly.
I enjoyed reading Charmy's detailed synopsis last year when it first aired, and I enjoyed watching the YouTube clip this time around. It's nice to revisit these things on occasion.
I had a lot of relatives who served in WWII, some at Normandy and one who flew "the hump" (he was actually a navigator not the pilot, but I digress) ... would've been really crazy if that camera had been in his plane. Impossible to say though. Even if Charmy knew somehow in which plane that camera was mounted, I'll never know which plane(s) my grandfather flew. That information is long gone along with him since 1987.
Apparently my episode re-aired last night as I had several people come up to me to talk to me about it at the San Diego show.
I never heard anything about whether they developed the film, but I suspect they didn't as the film is what made the camera as valuable as it was. Plus, it would be very expensive to develop that particular type of film - which is why I never did.
Some of the best shows has them passing on some of that precious stuff that walks into their shop.Corey seems to get perturbed alot.Probably because the show producer tells him how to act all the time.Grandpa and his dad should set him up with his own store and tv show.
